Title: instuments
Post by: Elad Shmitanka on 2003-01-16 04:32 PM
hi,
I was trying to find an instument in the composer, called Claver (assuming I spell it right) and Wawanco, both used in salsa songs, will someone please let me know how (if at all) a can add them to the instument list?
thanks

Claves are a percussion instrument. See drumref.nwc in your NWC "Samples" folder.

As near as I can tell, Wawanco is a style (like Merengue, Bossa Nova, Cha cha, etc.) not an instrument.

You may also be thinking of klavier, which is, I think, the German name for a piano.

hi, you should ask a latin guy and he should know, right?
well im latin.
CLAVE (in english means key) it's the name of two wooden sticks that you hit against each other so that every other instrument can follow the rythm and speed of the song. marcar paso, in other wods :o)

about guaguanco, it's a music style, as salsa is just the name a lot of people give to alot of latin styles like son, mambo, guaguanco, son montuno, etc.

What exactly did you want to know?

it looks like 'tam tring' should have read 'I am trying'. That would make the question somewhat clearer.

Answer: Open drumref.nwc, to be found on c:\program files\noteworthy composer\samples or thereabouts.
Edit the staff properties (F2), go to the Midi tab, and there you will see that Channel 10 has been used (Does that smell twice as good as Chanel # 5?) In the Instrument tab, you will see that no instrument has been selected.
Play the file, and find out what you like and need.
best regards,
Rob.
