Title: My computer isn't playing MIDI files/NWC music
Post by: Auren Kaplan on 2003-01-07 04:59 PM
I recently installed NWC 1.75 after purchasing it, and it won't play the music.  I checked all the connections, and I made sure everything had the necessary power connections, but it still doesn't play.  Windows Media Player isn't playing MIDI either, but it will play other types of music so I know that the speakers work.  The computer is a Dell running on Windows ME.  The sound playback device is a Crystal MPU-401.  Help!

The MPU-401 playback device is the external midi device via the joystick port. If you were to connect an external synth to the joystick port, you'd hear the midi and NWC output on that synth.

You need to change your playback device to the souncard's native midi output. This will probably be called something like "Crystal FM synth" or "Crystal OPL3" or "Crystal midi synth" or something like that.
