Title: Looking for a composer
Post by: Sage13 on 2002-08-09 04:13 PM
Hi, my name is Sage, a member of the Liquid Moon Development Team.  We are currently looking for a Music Composer to work with us in creating music for a video game and motion video projects as well as various other graphic media.

Our team consists of 22 individuals ranging from Artist Programmers to Video productionist and Web Site designers.  We would like to find a few music composers to complete our team.

If you are interested, please contact me at:

kdak@hotmail.com

Here is our web site:

http://66.113.157.62/lm/

Also, if you would like to get some of your work out there, the Liquid Moon site gets a great deal of traffic on a daily basisa and so we showcase members' work in weekly galleries (Graphical, but we will also add video and audio works.)

Thanx

-Sage13

My initial reaction to this post is to remove it. If anyone disagrees with this approach, feel free to post your rationale (your reasons for keeping posts like this) here.

Pro: it could conceivably be of use to prospective composers, and since it's obviously targetted to NWC users it could conceivably provide a venue for use and promotion of NWC. I responded to a similar post on a usenet group, the result was my "Steampunk Saga" suite, which survived even though the project itself died on the vine.

Con: The message will quite rapidly become dated, and therefore inappropriate for a permanent forum.

Con: If allowed to persist, it might be construed as an invitation to post other kinds of advertisements.

Just my .02 worth...

Maybe the newsgroup is better for that? Or, maybe the forum could have a capability for posting with an automatic 1-week expiration (not transferred to the off-line forum)? Generally, I agree that leaving such posts is an invitation to clutter.

Considering that many people using NWC can be considered as composers --at least they just need to let them compose--, this kind of ad is not a bad thing.
But IMHO it's not on the good place.
Obviously it may lead to have other posts like that one, attracted by keyword searches, as we have seen for F*nale, Cub*se, Sib*lius and other software. (I don't want them to be indexed here, hence the '*'. I've nothing against them! (well, almost nothing...))

(NWOnline: is it possible *not* to index posts slated for future removal?) A robots.txt file (iirc) maybe?

Maybe creating a section on the website, dedicated to music announces such as that one (if some other people make pieces like Steampunk Vignettes, it can't be bad ;) but considering that there are many places like that on the web...

Just my 0,1312 FRF (0,02 Euro)! :-)

This sounds like too much work given this is not really too much of a problem.

This is my first reponse in the Forum (and I am only a month behind the initial posted date).  One of my major goals is to have my music published.  Perhaps this is similar to all composers?  It seems that any avenue that can lead to the goal is worthwhile.  In this context, I strongly urge that such requests be viewable by NWC composers.

I also don't see anything wrong with it.
