I've been a Noteworthy user for almost five years. But I need a banjo/guitar tablature editor that could be used as a supplement to Noteworthy. Does anyone know of such?
if you want a program that can utilize the sound of guitar/banjo/bass/drums....
go to www.tabit.net and download the trial, or buy the real version.
it's actually a very good guitar tabulature program that, when you buy the real version (only $20), you can save guitar songs as .midis.... then you can open them through Noteworthy, and work from there....
hope that helps...
With the ability to control number of lines on the staff, and additional control over staff spacing in NWCV1.75, comes a workable way of doing accurate tablature.
Until someone works up a User Tip or something on that order, have a look at what Marsu did with a Vivaldi guitar arrangement of mine, Andante from Concerto RV532 (http://www.vpmag.com/cgi-bin/nwc/txt2html.cgi?src=classical/v/vivandte2.txt). It might be noted that the job was made somewhat easier in this case by the fact that I had assigned separate staves for each string already, for realism in playback. You can compare with the original version (http://www.vpmag.com/cgi-bin/nwc/txt2html.cgi?src=classical/v/vivandte.txt) for additional "hands-on learning".
Good luck.
If by "compatible with Noteworthy" you would be satisfied with "both programs support MIDI", give the free and excellent PowerTab a whirl:

It's a little limited as far as standard notation (i.e., you can't manipulate the score directly—it's only a representation of the tab), but it works great for tab.

Aside from Fred's suggestion the only way I am aware of is to convert your NWC file to MIDI and import it into a tab program. My preference is Tabledit. Like NWC it is available in a limited evaluation form with an in relatively inexpensive ($54.95)registration fee. This in my opinion is the best Tab program around. Tabledit is available at www.tabledit.com.
And for an alternative, though similar, method within NWC look at:

If you prefer the tab numbers between the lines then you can use a seven line staff and shift the "lyrics" a unit up (or down depending on where the staff is, above or below the normal staff). For the between-the-lines stuff I've posted a couple of examples recently in the newsgroup. Look for my posting of June 18. On those I found that I had to decrease the size of the lyric font to keep the numbers form overlapping. What is really needed (and I have requested) is the ability to specify the font for the lyrics for each staff, individually.

If all you need to do is place some guitar fingerboard grids, then browse the Internet for "Frets A, B, and C" fonts. These can be placed as text. I don't play guitar, but it seems to me that the fonts have a wide assortment of fret charts. Since these are symbols from fonts, they cannot be edited, only placed.
Just listened to vivandte2.nwc.
Bravo!
