Title: Midi/ Play highlight sync.
Post by: Paulo Galvao on 2002-05-09 11:31 AM
Hello

I've noticed that when quarter note = 90, and faster, the Play highlight note is seen before tempo.  So, when it came the time to sing along with the play back, things turned out to be a little confusing for some people.

As I use the NWC player in the classroom, I was asked by the students to better synchronize the midi playback and the "Play highlight" notes.

Suggestions?

Thanks in advance in the name of all "Musical education" students I teach.

Well, it's not related to the tempo, not even to NWC, but to your sound card or driver.
In fact there is a delay between when your computer sends the midi event, and when the sound card (or software) produces the sound.
Such delay is particularly visible with software midi rendering (such as Yamaha XG softsynth, if not properly configured).

Go and see https://forum.noteworthycomposer.com/?topic=813, https://forum.noteworthycomposer.com/?topic=259, https://forum.noteworthycomposer.com/?topic=631, and probably other threads.

This said, knowing what are your soundcard hardware/software, processor and windows version can be helpful too...
