In notation programs like sibelius or Finale the note entry is very tedious because the user interface is set out like a completed song but it is all rests and you have to click the rest and change it to a note and change it to a value that you want. On nwc there is a blank stave there and
you can enter the notes instead of creating them from existing rests. This is a lot quicker. other programs
have other features than nwc like working tremolos, custom tuplets, custom dynamics. But on nwc there are usually ways to do these anyway. If there was a slider it would be
like:

Well as an avid user of Sibelius, I have become rather quick at note entry. I used NWC for a long time before converting to Sibelius and it did take some adjustment. The only part that is quicker for me to enter in NWC is a group of notes where the values are drastically different (just put them all in as one type of note then highlight and change with keyboard shortcuts)
I'm glad you like NWC so much, it really is a great program and an incredible bargain for it's price!

I only have a demo version of sibelius - it is very expensive!
I enquired about Sibelius only last week.
Standard price $1345AUS (around $725US).
Whew! - It would have to be good.
I stopped myself from shouting out "çü[sh]!" when I saw that price. I thought it was around $400.
That makes NWC cost ~1/19th of its 'best' competant and that means a lot more valuable.
