Title: where's the snare
Post by: Greg Szkudlarek on 2002-04-13 06:51 PM
i've been having an extremely hard time finding good drum sounds.
i cant import them from drum tracks on other files for some reason and i cant seem to find out what the other tracks use.
if you know, please tell me, i'm going crazy.

Make sure you are setting the channel correctly for percussion sounds (Channel 10 on most sound cards) - you can do this under staff properties / MIDI tab

The basic snare sound is the D 2 ledger lines below the bass clef staff - I believe there's also another sound on the D#/Eb right above it

Greg,

Can you be a bit more specific - what is the problem.
The sound of the drum kit depends on the quality of your soundcard or the soundfont/sample used.
I have several drum loops and soundfonts but they may be a bit large to post.
Or are you after some drum patterns or sequences - there are some I've made available at the Scriptorium for download.
The NWC help file contains the mapping of the drum kit to the staff.
Let's know and I'll see if I can help.
