Title: MIDI Keyboard will not record
Post by: Tom Tranter on 2002-01-13 05:00 AM
I have used my keyboard in the past to enter notation via the record option before, but for some reason it won't work now. I have a Creative SoundBlaster Live soundcard, and I know my MIDI keyboard is connected correctly as when I use the Creative Keyboard I can play from my MIDI connected keyboard. I have tried using only the MIDI Mapper as the selected playback device, and my record tab has MIDI IN selected as the recording device. Also, there are no problems playing MIDI files within Windows or from within NWC. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Make sure you turn on Tools | MIDI Input Active, and make sure you don't have other MIDI software running at the same time as NWC. Usually the correct SB Live MIDI In device includes the string "SB Live" in the name, so a device named "MIDI IN" may not be the correct driver.

Well, I managed to get it working. I have an older Casio 630 Keyboard. In order to get it working I need to change instruments on the keyboard. That seems to send some data over the MIDI channels which allows my computer to start receiving the MIDI signals. Anyway, all is well now and thanks for the response.
