One more time. You can't. Do a forum search on this topic, if you want to know why in gory detail. (Gory because, as someone pointed out, it's like converting a hamburger into a cow.)

Reading this again... you can't convert a wav into a midi, but you can burn a wav onto CD. (Whoever told you that audio CDs use the midi format had it all wrong.)
All you need is the software that came with your CD burner, usually "Easy CD" by Adaptec.
Sorry Dan, apparently can't be done with todays technology. I just went through the same question, scroll down and read the thread "File Conversion".
Good luck

Thanks Fred,Henry. I guess I Cant. But Now I Know That I Can Burn My Wavs Strait Into My CDs! Thanks, Dan
That is not entirely accurate. There are numerous programs that can (will try anyway) to convert your wav file into midi. The best freeware wav to midi converter is ScoreExtractor 1.0 by Roman Yakimenko, nut it has many faults.
If you are willing to pay $80US for a higher quality program, you may want to consider Digital Ear 4.0 (http://www.digital-ear.com) by Epinoisis Software (http://www.epinoisis.com). One conversion and you'll agree that this is truly great software. If you plan to do alot of wav to midi work, this is for you.
There are plenty of other programs that do the same job:
-Intelliscore Polyphonic 4.0
-AmazingMIDI 1.60
-AKoff Music Composer 2.0
Good Luck.
Well, the place where I found the most detailed explanations is the the official AMM FAQ (http://home.sc.rr.com/cosmogony/ammfaq.html), and for the subject of this thread, go directly to the 2.07 paragrah (http://home.sc.rr.com/cosmogony/ammfaq.html#2.07) ...
STH !
What a useful reference. It's a pity NWC doesn't get a mention in the list of notation processors.

Steve:
If you send a note to Jim Higgins at the FAQ I'm sure he would add NWC to the list.
