Title: Two-line author information
Post by: Dan De Hainaut on 2001-11-18 05:00 AM
Is there a way to enter multiple lines in the File Information--Author field? Example: a composer and a lyricist each with his/her own line flush left above the first system.

I can manage this by entering two separate text inserts in the score, but getting them to align properly is cumbersome. Moreover, if I make any other edits or adjustments that change the horizontal size of the staff, the text messages follow the staff and end up on the wrong part of the page. Ugh.

Dan,

except using third-party software, I don't know other mean.

The only thing I know is that adding this (or taking care of this) at the latest possible moment is a good thing; moreover, specifying the text items as "Page text" as Display font, and "Right" Justification (in Expression Placement tab) helps a lot.
When it's correct, and if you need to edit separate scores as well (i.e. not the whole stuff), you may want to copy the text items on each staff, but prior to this specify them to be "printed only when on top staff": in Visibility tab, _S_how on printed page: "On Top Staff".

Hope this helps!

Thanks, Marsu.

The Page Text--Right Justified trick should make the workaround that I've been resisting a lot more effective.

A multiple-line author field is still on my wish list, though.

My preference (although there's no reason why we can't ask for both) is to have fields for the lyricist on the left and the composer on the right.
