Welcome Sanjeev!

I'm not sure about "appogiatura", but it seems to me that "grace notes" are what you need. use the "=" key to specify when a note has to be a "grace note" (i.e. its length is taken from the following note, and printed smaller. Not /ed though)
For portamento, you can use MPCs; it's limited to 4 semitones though, but have a look at http://www.noteworthysoftware.com/ and listen to the splendid piece (impendum) Fred has written. It shows how you can use it for portamenti beyond this limit.
(if you open the file, use File/Page Setup/Contents to click on "hidden" and see the "theremin" staves, where the MPCs are really used)

Hope this helps!
