Is there any way to search the online forum other than the new message submission form? If there is I can't find it.
I often want to search the forum before (or while) replying to a post, and I find that I have to navigate back to the submission form to start the search. It would be nice if there could be a forum search link at the top of each forum page, particularly when you're viewing a message thread and preparing to respond.
(The search link in the black stripe at the top of the many of the pages is a site search and doesn't seem to include the current forum contents.)
At the moment, the online forum search is only on the new message form, as you point out. We will try to improve this.

A new Search Messages link is now available from within any existing thread, as well as the active and recent index pages.
