Post by: Ray Vermey on 1996-12-11 05:00 AM
Hi!

I am looking for a good Music tutor on the Net. One which explains the different Keys, transposing, chord etc etc. Thanx in advance!

I just spent some time wading through search results, and I did not come up with anything worthy of reporting in this reply. If you have a community library in your area, you might be surprised at what you can find simply by asking for help there. After wading through some of the vast number of sites that make references to many musical terms, it appears that the traditional information search may be best in this case.

If you do find a good site, please feel free to share it with us.

I hope this helps.

I would recommend my first-year music theory textbook: "Tonal Harmony" by Kostka and Payne.

I think a web site representation of this kind of information would have to contain about 60MB of pictures of staves!

Since my music theory teacher quit on me,I've been looking for the same thing. What I've found on the net has not been very helpful. You may want to try Elderly Instruments,I think you can reach them at Elderly.com. They have music theory books & tape combos that may be useful. I intend to try them, myself.

I've found a site that is of great interest, and especially to reply this thread look at http://hyperion.advanced.org:80/15413/theory/theory.htm
...for english-talking people.

Note that for composer biographies, you can link to http://hyperion.advanced.org:80/15413/history/music-history.htm ; so bad that don't have (or i didn't find) a search tool. But you still can use lycos or whatever you use, to look for a special composer + on this site :-)

Otherwise I found this link looking for Monteverdi's "Lamento d'Arianna", does someone have it on his disk in midi or nwc form ?

NWCly yours
Dominique

The link http://hyperion.advanced.org:80/15413/theory/theory.htm provided by Marsu is real cool. I found a similar online theory which you can find at http://www.mibac.com/ Go to the 'Theory Reference' section and you have a whole bunch of stuff to read.

Byt the way, does anybody do any recording with yamaha PSR540 keyboard ?
