Title: 4 notes in 3 beat group (6/8 time)
Post by: leonard_rosten on 1997-07-21 04:00 AM
I can write the 4 semiquavers in a beamed group, but when I add a 4 (in text) over the group, the beaming splits into 2 sq's, 4 sq's and another 2 sq's.

Any advice from out there please?

Q&D (quick and dirty):

insert the text to the left of the group, turn off preserve width, and insert as many spaces as you need to move the 4 into position.

My problem is a group of 5 sixteenth notes. You have to group 2 + a triplet, because if you have 4 quarter notes in one bar, and 17 sixteenths in another part, then the bar lines don't line up. Midi always seems to want to give full value to a sixteenth,
