Title: arranging for orchestra
Post by: charli 2na on 2001-01-08 05:00 AM
I wrote a song, a slow, hard-rock, ballad mix, and I thought it would sound good as an orchestra piece. Does anyone know any sites that could help me arrange it, because I've never done anything like this before and what I have at the moment sound very dull.

thx

This is beyond just a NWC problem. You need to study orchestration. You need to know the ranges of instruments, their tone in different ranges, how they sound mixed in various combinations.

I can advise no better book that Sounds And Scores by Henry Mancini. www.jazzbooks.com Comes with CD examples.
