What would you consider the best choice to emulate operatic voices regarding NWC instrument patches, besides Synth Voice 1? Is it the same for baritones, tenors, basses, altos, sopranos...?

If you want it to really sound like the human voice, I don't know. But on my general-MIDI system, believe it or not the built-in instrument that most effectively gives pitch (for practicing vocal range) is Marimba.

The choices I use (for say... a SATB composition) are Piccolo or Violin for soprano, Oboe or Soprano Sax for alto, Clarinet for tenor, and Tuba or Cello for bass. It gives a nice sound in my opinion.
