why do doesnt the program automaticly beam the notes together when they are inputed and when i put the time sign. to 4/4 and i put four 1/4 notes it doesnt make a new measure.. please help
Noteworthy Composer allows you, the user, to choose whether or not notes will be beamed. It also allows you, the user, to choose where the bar lines (measures) are put. This is a very nice feature, since not everyone wants the music to appear the same way when printed. I will leave the specific instructions for someone else.

You can enter a string of notes, then at the top, click Tools, and Audit Barlines. This will automatically place barlines for you, but it is easier to just hit the Tab key as you go. You really need to learn the keyboard shortcuts... this is the secret to speed. I enter without use of a midi keyboard, and can type in music at amazing speed... I even impress myself. LOL! From the Help section print out these keyboard commands, and keep them posted near you while you are learning. Soon you will find you are typing away with speed.
NWC is great because it offer several ways to learn the keyboard shortcuts.Print it as as Paul suggested. Also, hover the mouse over the toolbar button for a second and it will provide you with the shortcut. Each item on the drop-down menus shows the shortcut as well. Now, here's the trick: After you looked up the shortcut,resist the urge to Click! Use the shortcut. You'll be zipping through notation in no time. This is also true of just about any Windows program. Put the mouse out of reach for a few day.
