Title: opening old NWC files
Post by: Todd Ferguson on 2000-08-21 04:00 AM
Does anyone know how to get the latest shareware version to open old files that are saved on a disk? Some are saved within a shareware version all on a disk, and have been unzipped and still will not open. The NWC Open dialog box of the shareware program installed on my computer now doesn't find and song files or NWC files in the files on my disk. A reacurring error message that I receive : "the system cannot read from the specified device."

Please help me become someone who can help others.

Sounds like you have an actual system problem here. Perhaps your floppy drive has had it, or the floppies themselves have gone bad. The error you're getting means that your system can't even read the data, let alone do anything with it.

All newer NWC versions can read files created by older versions. In this case, you are getting a system level message that is indicative of larger problems, unrelated to opening older version files.
