Title: Pedal glitches
Post by: Stuart Ravn on 2000-08-15 04:00 AM
There is a problem with the pedal command on NoteWorthy. The "Pedal Down" function works properly, as all the notes within it's range are sustained. But "Pedal Realease" doesn't entirely work. It stops notes past it from being sustained, but it does not stop the notes that were within the "Pedal Down" range. Is this fixable within the program?

This seems to be dependent on the implementation of the pedal command in the actual synth or soundcard. NWC simply sends the commands - it's up to the synth to determine what to do with it.

Try this: put at least one note between the Pedal Off and the next Pedal On. This fixes that particular problem on my XG synth. (On occasion I've even inserted a short "dummy" note, with velocity override set to 1, to accomplish what I needed.)

Fred is exactly correct. NWC does not control how the synth actually performs the sustain pedal instruction.
