Title: OK, I need help on something
Post by: Kals on 2000-07-22 04:00 AM
Some guy wanted me to make a midi for him after a song he taped on his tape.

So, it's quite hard, and I can't seem to find the notes which would match the music, and sometimes there are sounds in the background (he said he taped it from a movie) which are somewhat disturbing.

If anybody has any tips or something on how I can manage through it...

Well, with transcribing I just just the thing over and over and play along with a piano or synth until I get it right. Then I record it with a midi sequencer and import it into Noteworthy. (Noteworthy does have a record feature though I don't use it with more complex jobs like transcription where I end up re-recording phrases and stuff) Of course, a really good understand of all the scales, modes and keys works too.
