Title: um... dont know what to call it so just read....
Post by: Bethaney on 2000-06-28 04:00 AM
alot of my songs that have lyrics have sections w/out lyrics and thus far I've been putting in dashes, however, reading some of these questions and answers, I get the feeling there's a way to do it w/out the dashes, anyone want to tell me how.... (or maybe I'm misinturpeting somting.... I dunno)

<hope you all don't get too sick of me....>

Select the notes (and rests!) that you want to attach lyrics to/stop attachment and then right click. Select the notes (or rests) tab and paly around with 'lyric syllable' settings.

There you can force an attachment (even to a rest or slurred note) or prohibit attachment. The default is of course to attach to unslurred notes and the first note of a slurred sequence, but not to other items such as rests and grace notes..

Peter's right. That's the correct way to do it. But a quickie way to line things up is to use the underline character, not the dash. The underline won't show up at all.
