Title: How do I handle slight verse variations?
Post by: Carrianne Bernatis on 2000-06-22 04:00 AM
I have written in my lyrics and music for verse one. I now want to write in the lyrics for verse 2, but the rhythm and pitches are slightly different from those of verse 1. How can I handle that? I want to put in small, grace note-like notes that will allow readers to see the variations made for verse 2. Does anyone know how to do this?

You can add grace notes, but they do not affect lyric placement. To place two lyrics on one note, separate them with underscore (eg. one_two). To skip a note, just enter a single underscore (eg. _), or a hyphen by itself between sylables (eg. lit - tle). These tricks should let you line up the lyrics.

Carrianne,

I'm currently working on an add-on font for NoteWorthy, called NoteRow, that may allow you to do what you ask. Could you send me a copy of your score so I can see exactly what you're trying to do?
