Title: Optimizing import function
Post by: Ertugrul iNANÇ on 2000-05-03 04:00 am
Does NWC have any plans to optimize importing?

At least two points are urgent to me:

1) Dynamics. Volume changes can easily be transcribed as dynamics and dynamic changes.
2) Pitch bends. Tempered midi files have no resemblance with the imported NWC. I think an optimized control on pitch bends will solve that.

These are items that you should add to the Wish List.

Thanks Barry Graham, I already did.

What about the idea a couple of years ago for gray scaled notes denoting volume. This would enable you to insert dynamics as you can "see" what the pitch is after import.
Son of a pitch.

...as you can "see" the volume, I meant to say...

Soap:
Excuse me but I couldn't understand.
What's that gray scaled notes?

[question mark]

I would guess that "Soap" is not planning to answer your question. I suspect that the idea of gray scaled notes is basically this: the darker the note, the louder its volume. We do not plan to use colour in this fashion, as is clear from the new features in version 1.70.

Thanks to NWOnline.
Well, do you have any further plans for import optimizing?

All right, that seems to be a "merchantillistical" answer, what I mean is if we could expect some actual improvement in midifile importing. But I assume (and hope) that's included in your reply.
Thanks

Sure, we have many plans. However, until we have something that is actually available in product form, we do not discuss it in any detail.
