General Discussion / Re: grissando?
The term I think you want is arpeggio and you can find the glyph in Boxmarks.ttf in the fonts available on the Scriptorium.

General Discussion / Re: Two slurs between the same two chords
Rick,

You're right. The alignment with other staves can be fixed  by using note spacing; but there doesn't appear to be any way to fix the accidentals. Digital whiteout does appear to be the best solution. I also use highlight 7 for white.

The filter at the public library in Olathe, Kansas just banned my piece, The Blue Diamond Polka, for being pornographic.

General Discussion / Re: More flow control problems
Yes, it would. I don't like to have to tell the players that there is a mark in the music that they should ignore. It sets a bad precedent.

The Blue Diamond Polka was played for the first time Tuesday evening by the Spokane Horn Club. They really liked it, unlike some of my better music, and want a copy for their library, and they plan to play it again next week.

General Discussion / More flow control problems
I've done two versions of this piece. The one for piano works well. This one for horn quartet doesn't, and I can't find the problem.

General Discussion / Re: Accents
If all you care about is the printing, entering as text is faster than trying to find work arounds.

General Discussion / Re: Sound font problem
Rick,

I looked at the text files and didn't find bank. Here are twoversions of a fugue by Matthias van den Gheyn, an 18th century Belgian carillonneur.

General Discussion / Re: Sound font problem
In both files I am using send patch 14. I am not using bank select. In one file I hear tubular bells. In the other I hear the Ghent carillon. What is .png?

General Discussion / Sound font problem
As you may know, I am a carillonneur and publisher of music for carillon. I have a SoundblasterLiive card, so I recently replaced the tubular bells ln General Midi  with carillon.sf2, a font created from wav files of each of the bells in the carillon in Gand (Ghent), Belgium. Some of the Noteworthy songs play correctly, others insist on the old tubular bells. As far as I can tell, all the settings are the same. If I copy the song to a new file, the problem is solved. What is happening?

General Discussion / Re: Long Lyric Dashes
David's suggestion also works for extended dotted and wavy lines.

General Discussion / Multi-bar rests old style
Older engravings show each whole rest in multi-bar rests. This is an advantage if horizontal space needs to be conserved. I have used NoteRow.ttf for User Font 1. I don't know where I got it, but it probably came with another program. I will send it to anyone who needs it. Perhaps the relevant glyph could be incorporated into another font that everyone has.

General Discussion / Re: How to Convert MIDI to WAV/MP3
There are many programs, perhaps already on your computer,  that will produce a WAV file when recording. Start the recording process and play your miidi or NWC file. If you need more sophisticated  processing, Magix or n-track are good programs for creating CD's and MP3's.

General Discussion / Re: Boxmarks 2 ?
Lawrie,

The file is too large to send. I'm removing it from my computer and re-installing from the Scriptorum.

Thanks,

General Discussion / Re: History?
I would like 30, or even 50  files to be displayed, It wou;d be most useful when I am printing a set of orchestra parts, or looking at samples, or files from the Scriptorum. Perhaps the number could be selected by the user.

General Discussion / Re: Tenuto and Staccato together
This can also be done by entering the tenuto marking as text, centered on the next note.

In the classic period, there was notation for three degrees of staccato which can be executed as this example shows.

General Discussion / Re: Very Rare Instruments
I had a helicon which I purchased and sold on EBAY. I also have 3 natural horns from about 1700. Even more unusual are 2 sets of bells from China. The seller claimed they were from the Ching Dynasty and the Warrng States era. I'm skeptical, but they make interesting sounds.

General Discussion / Request for user creation - cues
Please, would someone make a note font with note heads scaled at 60%? Since we can control stem length , that is all that is needed to give us cues.

Until then, I'm using the diamond heads for cues.

General Discussion / Re: Repetita juvant
Max Rudolf states in The Grammar of Conducting the practice of omitting repeats after da capo did not begin until the middle of the 19th century. It would be nice if we had the option in Noteworthy.
