General Discussion / Re: NWC Version 2.0
It may be common to show the same dynmamics for both hands, but it is better to play differnt dynamics in each hand. Hide the dynamics you don't want to see. If you are a perfectionist, you can use layering and really control the voicing of your chords as you would when playing.

General Discussion / Re: HAYDN
What is trhe story on No. 33? It's not in any of my catalogs. Is it in the complete edition?

General Discussion / Re: 2 pieces in the same page
I print two pieces on the same page by printing twice with appropriate top margins.

Subtitles can be entered as text to the center of the first line using vertical placement and horizontal justification. Pad the text with spaces if needed. More control can be obtained with a layered staff filled with hidden small rests in the measure used.

General Discussion / Re: What fonts do you use for ornaments and fingerings, etc?
Here is what I have in my arsenal:

Bach
Boxmarks
Boxmarks 2
Crescendo
Fughetta
Music
Musisync
Noterow
Notes normal
NWCI ornaments v.3
NW Slur
Petrucci
Toccata

They all have something I use or combinations that need to be together. I wish there were one font that fit everything I do, but it would probably be ideosyncratic.

Note that there are copyright issues with the use of some of these fonts.

General Discussion / Re: New String Set
Before I had Soundblaster Live, I found that doubling violin with fiddle produced a better sound. It might work with your sound card.

General Discussion / Re: Boxmarks text expressions
I find that generally it is best to put the hairpin at the target note with right justification. I also choose a relatively small font size so that the lines are not too thick.

General Discussion / Re: record acoustic music
I use the Sound Forge program that was included with Soundblaster Live. It is not their most expensive product. I think n-track will do almost anything that Acid does, and the cost is reasonable. It is particularly good for transforming midi to wav.

General Discussion / Re: record acoustic music
I feed the line out from my Radio Shack microphone mixer to the line in on my computer. This records as a wav file to my hard drive. With 60 gigs it tells me I have more than 2 hours of recording time available. After each session I delete the garbage and save the rest for editing later. If I feel like moving my stumps, I try to record in segments of about 15 minutes, but since the computer is in a room separate from my studio I can let it run if I need to. I generally use Sound Forge or n-track as my recording and editing programs. As you can see, this does not require major money except for microphones and some audio cable. Good musical instruments and talent are more important. Even accoustics can be greatly enhanced with the computer.

General Discussion / Re: a few questions please
For slur or tie direction, highlight the first note of the slur. Press Alt Enter to access note properties where you can select the slur direction.

General Discussion / Re: size of staves
For your first problem try this. To enlarge the staves visually, zoom in. (magnifying glass on tool bar, or zoom in in View, or Alt+) Unless you have a large monitor you will not be able to see the whole page at once. For larger print, change font size in page setup. If staves are too close together, change spacing in staff properties.

Hope this helps,
Carl

General Discussion / Re: size of staves
At the end of the top staff add an extra final bar line (i.e. system close, master repeat close) and force system close. Also extend last system in page setup. This will evenly spread out the measures in the last system. If there are not enough measures to be visually satisfying, force system close earlier in the piece so that more measures are in the final line.

General Discussion / Re: Problems with Printing
To our student friend-
As a former teacher and professional student, may I suggest  that a thoughtful paper on the issues you have confronted might result in an enhanced grade for your composition project.

General Discussion / Re: resting period
Gloria

That is still not a name. If the symbol truly has no name, perhaps we should give it one. I suggest "Fred" as in Fred Nacheinmalbar.

General Discussion / Re: resting period
Sorry, You are right that this thread was not about the measure repeat sign. The sign with the slanted lign and dots on each side is what I meant, and my question belongs elsewhere.
