General Discussion / Re: Internet Explorer and the NWC Browser Plugin
1) Well I see you changed my icons a little bit (squint, squint,).  What I really wanted to do was make the text wrap around the big ones like you have on the main page, but anyway . . .

2) Thanks for all the comments on Windows 98. I used to have Windows 95, but a nice new computer was dropped on my doorstep a year ago or so and it has Windows XP. As far as I know, there is no way to remove Windows XP. I have become quite comfortable with the NT based operating systems and am not really interested in switching back to Windows 95 with such a good computer at hand.

3) Running Opera, NoteWorthy Composer, and vanBasco's Karaoke Player, this 8 year old PC is still useful today.

LOL, that is basically what we settled on for our 75Mhz pentium. After awhile even Opera seemed slow, be it was pretty good none the less. The only problem I have with Opera is that it still displays this site wrong. All the Arial fonts are replaced with Times New Roman.

Anyway, we gave away that old computer and now the most useful computer we have is a 386 desktop running at about 25Mhz. It can start a new Word Perfect 5.1 for DOS document in 30 seconds from the time the power is turned on! We just turned it on the other day. Dad would rather use that computer downstairs where it's quiet than fight for this one. The date was a week off; the time wasn't even close. Same old computer. Y2K didn't bother it at all. The BIOS is copywritten 1987.

P.S. About the graphics in this forum: can I make a galery or would you rather them be kept rather hidden to the casual user.

General Discussion / Re: Internet Explorer and the NWC Browser Plugin
<Image Link>Oh poor victim of the Micro$oft monopoly. Micro$oft has a long history of avoiding the problem. It started with Windows 95 when the Illegal error was introduced. It said loud and clear: blame some one else; it's not our fault. And now they go and take away all that allows humble companies to still work with their browser. I think we should flood the Micro$oft e-mail until we get either an operating system without Internet Explorer or an Internet Explorer with security and plug-in support.

<Image Link>And then there's this other big company: AOL. They bully people, too. Why can't they support legacy plug-ins?

Rest in Peace poor NWC utilities.

General Discussion / Re: Hungarian musicological symbols
Most functions and operations in OO.o will be similar if not identical to the comparable MS Office ones.

No way! After having mastered Word 97, OOo was like a whole new program.  It took me 1/2 an hour just to figure out how proper MLA format worked in OOo. Doesn't OOo have a database of books about it though? (I don't currently have it installed)

I don't know what you could do to have Roman Numerals in a box in NWC. Boxmarks, as found in The Scriptorium, can do the Arabic numerals in a box. Maybe we could suggest that the author add Roman numerals into his font. In both Word and OpenOffice you can create a box and then add text to it.  In OpenOffice I think double clicking on a box automatically gives you a cursor. In Word you may need to right click and hit "Add Text." But you can't import those figures into NWC.

Version 1.75 Discussion / Re: Different fonts!?
NoteWorthy Software has not produced any other note fonts. However, The Scriptorium has NWCJazz.zip by Robert Morris, which will replace the standard NWCV15 font. Be sure to uninstall the original font first or there may be problems.

General Discussion / Re: Real sounds
FWIW: QuickTime uses Roland GS for synth.  That sounded so nice to Microsoft that they included it in Windows XP.  Therefore, QuickTime soundes exactly the same as the Windows MIDI mapper on my system.

Tips & Tricks / Re: Printing 2 small pages on 1 landscape page
In the latest editions of Windows, two pages by sheet can be accomplished by the system. If you printer uses a standard windows driver and print processor, you can choose the number of pages per sheet by hitting Properties before you print and selecting the number under the layout tab. ClickBook gives way more control, I'm sure, but for your basic needs, Windows now has it. Just thought I'd update the tip...

General Discussion / Re: a few questions please
For your first question: select all the notes by positioning the cursor at the start of the line a pressing Shift+End. Then hold down Ctrl+Shift and press the down arrow (on your keyboard) five times. Finally, Change the clef by selecting it, press Alt+Enter and choosing treble clef.

For your second question: Press the scripted i on the toolbar. This gives you room for 1 line for the title, 1 line for the author, and 2 lines for the copyright. At present, that's the best you can do. Post-precession can aid in that area, however. By placing the WMF's from the print preview's copy button into your word processor, you can add snazzy text effects and even adjust placement of some things.

For your third question: Select the notes is question, and hit Alt+Enter. In the notes tab, you should see slur direction. Choose Upward.

General Discussion / Re: Problems with Printing
...as for getting around it without registering, I know a simple solution that I used to use, but I'll keep my mouth shut. Such things are better learned on your own...

General Discussion / Re: Noteworthy
There supposed to be such kind of a routine in Win95 orig. which should display the list of the programmers in a folder window but I could never get it to work
1) Make a new folder
2) Rename it to say:    and now the moment you've all been waiting for
3) Rename it to say:    we proudly present for your viewing pleasure
4) Rename it to say:    The Microsoft Windows 95 Product Team!
5) Open the folder...
Works for me...

General Discussion / Re: OT: Apologies... I'm Infected By a Virus :(
I think he's saying "Who cares if you have a virus?" And the answer is... everyone here with the blue name tags cares!! I wholeheartedly support deletion of his reply as well, although the request was to delete your thread, Ertugrul.

General Discussion / Re: Ghost notes
They are "x-ed out" notes that you finger (or position or whatever) but don't put much air behind them. ie, you imply them, but don't really play them.

General Discussion / Re: Recording songs
First, there is a free upgrade to a newer version of Nero: 5.5.9.17 . I don't know what's the difference, but I thought I'd mention it. As far as your questions, I'll hit them tomorrow, I got a bit of work to do.

General Discussion / Re: HELP! Needed
What I was thinking of was Beethowen's Quartet No. 1 in F Major, Op. 18, No. 1 But now that I look at it, it's not fast either...

General Discussion / Re: HELP! Needed
Robby, the piece you are describing was indeed included in the 1.0 edition which Ertugrul iNANÇ sent to me. If you want it, e-mail me and I can pass it along (provided NoteWorthy Software feels the is not copyright infringement). It can still be opened in the latest version of NoteWorthy, but you have to switch the file listing to display "Song Files" instead of "NWC files" since its a NTW file.
