I think I asked for this before -- it would be a very useful feature.
To clarify, David, in Microsoft Word 2000 and above, you'll notice that when you grab the scroll bar, the screen will immediately move in the opposite direction. In NoteWorthy Composer, however, you have to release the mouse button before the screen is updated.
Aside. I notice the default font has been changed to Tahoma - stylesheets are wonderful. Having now said that, I'll gonna look at the stylesheet ... and of course I'm wrong - its Verdana. Anyway, I generally like a sans-serif font for menu items, but I'm not sure if its the best font for the forum. Serif text is easier to read. Also, can you (Mr. E. NoteWorthy Online) change to font in the Reply box to match the font in the forum? It would help when aligning things.
Well the latest beta of OpenOffice.org (version 1.9, I think they're calling it) will handle the EMF - slurs and all! But once you try to edit it, it falls apart . . . Yikes!!
I can't locate where the improvement is noted at the moment, but I have NoteWorthy Composer 2, and I remember downloading the preview that first had this enhancement. Don't worry it's fixed.
OO will import an EMF. However, the information is converted into OO's own drawing format, and cannot be saved or exported as EMF [unless OO adds that as a future enhancement].
Sure it can (Select All, File, Export, File Format: EMF)!
What I would do is completely different. First save the score as a type 0 MIDI file. Then import the MIDI file using defaults on step one, uncheck the only check box in step two, and then next, next, finish. Now you have a piano part.
But David, can't you just adjust the lower limit on a) the trombone part if you're printing it as a single part or b) the part above it if you're printing a conductors part.
Can't we control the horizontal length of an ending by layering as well?
The vertical location of the special endings is controlled exclusively by the "Upper" value of "Vertical Size" in Staff properties. In other words, The endings will float up to the top edge of the blue rectangle.
Well I'll kindly remind you that I've been having the same problem (See https://forum.noteworthycomposer.com/?topic=2116) since I moved to the emachines computer with XP. I've learned to accept F9 as my friend, and there is one way to solve this problem: turn everything down to Safe Mode resolution/depth, but who wants to use that?
It's simple, really. According to the web page that NWC refers to, all you have to do is double click the font file within the NoteWorthy Composer program directory. Even if the font is not in the font folder, it will still act as if installed while it is open. If that does not work, you have too many fonts. Period.
Well I got Bochs to work on my WGS 9650/233 (i know -- its old). After first cheating by installing it first on my PC, I copied the virtual hard drive to my mac. Start up time for Windows 95? 8 Minutes! - So its not worth it :-(
William: You can try to upgrade with your 1.75 CD, but NoteWorthy Software's requirements are usually extremely precise. This would mean that there's a 99% chance that you can use your 1.75 CD.
a registered user: [abbr=the best of "chill out" and "relax"]chillax[/abbr] - an upgrade is $15, less than half price!
Tools|Options|Editor|Smart Properties Insert will ignore the cursor position if thats what you want, David. I personally prefer having the dynamic appear where the cursor is.
Expanding on NoteWorthy Online's point: one of the restrictions of the evaluation version is that copying to other programs is disabled. When you open one of the sample files, however, some of the restrictions are lifted, and you would therefore be able to copy to PowerPoint that way. This makes sense, since this is the evaluation version.
you can also look into a PC emulator for your macintosh. The Bochs emulator is free (http://bochs.sourceforge.net). You would then only need a copy of Windows. I'm working on setting bochs up on OS 8.6 and I'll see what happens and will report back.
Rob, MIDI tempering I think is Fred Nachbaur thing. A link to his web site is provided below. Basically I think it has to do with making a song more pleasing to the ear, but I'm not sure. He has tools and a whole page on it on his web site.
Ok. So I'm trying to tip-toe into linux and I've installed cygwin and KDE deskop on top of it. So now I downloaded a *.rpm file. Fred, what do you do when you want to run the rpm file in KDE desktop? I get an Open file with . . . dialogue box. Is it supposed to just work?
see https://forum.noteworthycomposer.com/?topic=3558.msg21720#msg21720 - If your sound supports it, there are a few different drum sets you can choose from. Note that the sound of the drum has nothing to do with NoteWorthy Composer. Your sound card is the "band" and NoteWorthy just hands the "band" the sheet music.
Let me just add that this has happened to me with other software. It seems that any program that is installed with the WISE installer needs its install.log file to uninstall. Unfortunately, there are programs on the Internet, one of which I ran across, that label all *.log files as junk files that can be deleted. One click and you've broken the uninstall programs for all the WISE-based installers on your computer. As NoteWorthy Online pointed out, the only way to delete the program now is to reinstall THE SAME VERSION. In my situation, the installer is no longer available, so I'm stuck!
Warren, that's an excellent idea: I would have put the rehersal letters on every staff! To expand on boxmarks: it also features boxed numbers as well as boxed letters. You will find that both are pretty logically placed in the font.
I would think so, but, just in case, get one with a return policy. USB is pretty amazing, but being such new technology it tends to be a bit flakey. 1.0, 1.1, 2.0 - I don't know.
1. The setting you want will apply to the whole NWC file. In the lyric editor, under the Configuration tab, choose Align Syllable Using: Start of Accidental/Note
2. This feature is currently unavailable. Add your request to the wishlist. For now, you will have to used strategically placed |'s from a font.
Sure there's a better way! If you just want a fagment of the part of the score you are working on, select that and do a copy special. If its the whole score you want, go to the print preview, and select "copy" for each page. You'll be asked if you want to save the file or copy it to the clipboard. (This option is not available to unregistered users.)
Roberts 1000 times as well as a reply from "Priciple Squeeze" were posted and deleted. Apparently they felt that that was going too far. They will also delete yours and my replies because they talk about deleted replies.
Thank you for tracking the whereabouts of the Lizard ;-) It seems that the Mozilla team has decided "If you can't beat them, join them." They have added, all sorts of IE features like smooth scroll, image resizing, HTML copy. And, best of all, they are more intuitive. For the image resize, you don't have to wait for that stupid picture icon to come up, you just click anywhere.
for many purposes, there are patent and royalty issues involved in using MP3. That said, if you are not subject to such issues, then get the LAME encoder add-in to Audacity (see above link) to convert WAV to MP3.
Can you clarity on these issues? Is it OK to burn an MP3-CD of music I legally purchased so that I don't have to switch CD's as often in my player?
whoa, changed again! The black on white text looks a whole lot better. I'll get used to the new arrangement; I'm not sure about it . . . Maybe, if you just put a small thing on the top with "Welome to NoteWorthy Software," but on the right stating the current version, then you would nicely fit everything all on one screen.
...and I don't really like the replacement. Way too much black, and it does not go with the theme of the rest of the site at all. I find text on black a very unprofessional combination.
