AAs far as I remember, if you have your back up files folder the same as your autosave files folder, then it doesn't work.
For some reason they have to be different folders. Sorry, I know that doesn't help you.
Not sure that there is anything else I can suggest.

Hi Bernhard

First of all, check to see if you have Auto save/ Recovery switched on.

Do this by looking in the Tools/Options/File tab. Also check the frequency.

If you have, then look in the folders tab to see where your autosave files are.
In that folder, if you have it switched on, should be  copies of your file going back for some time (if the frequency is low). They will have a file extension of .asv.  You will need to change this to .nwc

If you don't have this switched on, then perhaps your only hope is the recycle bin although I don't hold out much hope there.

General Discussion / Re: Preparing Teaching Tracks
I prepare rehearsal parts for my choir all the time.

Here is a rundown in it's basic form, which you can build on and add your own style.

Starting off with a nwc music file, generally you will have four voice parts (SATB) and some form of accompaniment.

So my process is this ;
Reduce all of the parts to  much lesser volume .   So by default, each part/instrument will be at 127
I would reduce all of these to about 60
save the nwc file as your master file.
For each voice (S, A, T and B  or more if you have for example SSAATTBB) do the following.
1. Change the volume on the voice to about 120 so that the one voice is at 10 and the remainder is at 60.
2. Remove all dynamics from that voice and then add an FFF marking at measure 1 for that voice.
3. Remove all MPC volume instructions from that voice.
Save the nwc file as name-voice.nwc
Repeat this for all the voices that you wish to make rehearsal files for.

Now, you will now have a voice file for a specific voice where the voice part will be enhanced over and above the other voices and the accompaniment.

Repeat this process for the remaining voice parts using the master file that you created earlier as your starting point.

Now, the thing is that you can now give these out to your choristers, and tell them do download the NoteWorthy Viewer or send it to them if you know that their email will accept executables.

The thing about the NoteWorthy Viewer is that ;

1. It is free
2. If the chorister has trouble singing, for example, a run, NoteWorthy Viewer will allow you to slow down the tempo without degrading the pitch.
3. If they position the cursor at what they consider to be a difficult portion to sing, they can just hit play at that point and then, at the end of that section, just press play again and it will re-start again at the point where the cursor was originally positioned.

The above is only the basis of what I so. There are many other things that you may decide you can add into this to help your choristers.  This is something that you will develop over time and usage - but the basis is here.

If you look in your Noteworthy directory (programs not Noteworthy files) you will find a directory called "Setups"
In there you will find an executable for the last Noteworthy program you installed. Use this to install on your new machine.
The viewer you can install from the internet.

I think this is the easiest route.

General Discussion / Re: Shepard effect
I have been attempting to complete a shephard's tone file with nwc for years.

I have always tried to do it using pitch bend and when the range of pitch bend increased from two tones, I thought I was in with a real chance.  (you should have seen my original attempt which made use of Fred's method of overlapping  glissandos with appropriate volume controls). But alas no. I'm not happy with any of my results.

Every so often, I shall continue trying.

Nice effort Maurizio - appreciated.

General Discussion / Re: Any plans to make this available for Chrome OS?
It is unlikely, apart from releases in the very near future, that we would ever be told the future plans for Noteworthy. My guess would be probably not.  However, if you do decide to go with a Chrome OS, then one option for you may well be :

Codeweavers "Crossover"  https://www.codeweavers.com/

This runs on Chrome OS (as well as other OSs) and according to their compatibility list, NoteWorthy Composer and NoteWorthy Viewer will run under their crossover system.

Although can't confirm that it works with the Chrome OS, I do know that it works well with the MAC and so I would have no reason to doubt their claim for Chrome.

Just to confirm that "Adam Bodkin", the transcriber of "Thick as a Brick" did have the permission of  Ian Anderson (Jethro Tull)  to put the NoteWorthy version of "Thick as a Brick" on the Scriptorium. Without that permission, we could not have that file on the Scripto because of copyright reasons.

By the way, if you consider "Scherz" to be mis-named, it is the submitter who gave it that name. But perhaps he got it from  Strauss sheet music. I don't know the piece and so can't comment.

I cant find any problem with the pages I have looked at.

I have tested the following:
The link from whatsnew.php  That leads to the info file which has a link to the nwc file. That all works.
The link from the classs.html page. That opens the file directly. 
The link from the info file on classs.html - That brings up the small info square which has a link to the file. That's ok.
 Clicking on the right pointing arrow in that small square brings up the full details with another link to the file. That works ok.
Finally, doing a Scripto search for "Scherz - Polka, Op. 72" also brings up a link as a search result.  That leads to the info page and also works.


Can you please explain what is not working for you and from where

General Discussion / Re: Anchors instead of diamonds
Go to  Tools /  Options / Editor and then check the "Expression anchor size"  . Once checked, it will then resemble what you remember.

 The strange thing is that checking the box turns the anchor off.
