Well that's most odd because if I save a new piece of music using the latest version of NWC2 then version 2.21 of the viewer will open and play it without any problems.
Can you leave a URL to the nwc2 file on your site and I'll give it a go?
Edit later
Ahh - Just seen the thread in the NWC2 area and I confirm the same as Rick - opened without problem using the viewer.
Well although I can't thouroughly test this at the moment (at work), I have pinched a clip from someone's posting in the community and run as text (rather than a lyric entry). Very clever.
Worked well from what I could see. Will try properly tonight.

It is with great sorrow that I have the sad duty to let you know that Jim Karageanes (Dr Zorba) has passed away at the age of 64.
A graduate of Wayne State University, Jim worked for more than 30 years in the Detroit area as a computer consultant for the Big-3. He is survived by his wife Sharon, sons Jonathan and Steven, daughters-in-law Dawn and Cindy, and four grandchildren.
Jim had contracted cancer and had been through some rounds of chemo therapy. In November, a hospice took over his disease management and gave him some improvement in discomfort control (his words).
For those of you that would like to pass on messages to the family, Steven's email address is drscoop "at" comcast "dot" net

What I really don't understand - and perhaps someone will enlighten me - is if Ctrl A works in all other windows and office programs because that is the windows standard, what is it that NoteWorthy does to stop it happening.
Eric writes
Quote
This is the way the Windows dialog controls behave.
. But the windows dialog controls in all other applications use CTRL A to select all - so it must me something that NoteWorthy does to stop this action.
Is it because the key combination CTRL A is taken within the program to mean "New Staff" and this overrides the accepted windows use of this key combination?

A corresponding beta 2.20 release of the NWC Viewer is now available:
A very slight problem which I don't know if it was there before this update - but became apparent when I was testing this release.
If I load a music file into the viewer and play it. If while the file is playing I click on Tools / Options and just look at the values presented without changing anything, then click on OK, the file that is playing has all the instuments changed to piano (can't tell what patch - maybe 000 maybe 001)
This is not one of the instrument patches that is in the file because I tried it with a file that just had strings and it still changed it to piano.
Now you may say "What on earth do you want to do that for?" And you'd be right. But I did - and that is what happened. Repeatable.
In NWC (both versions), items that should not be used whilst playing the file are greyed out. Perhaps this should happen in the viewer.
You will find little grey diamonds near to (immediately to the left) of the note that accompanies the tempo marking. This is the selection handle. Put the cursor immediately before one, hold down the shift key and press the right arrow key. This should have selected the grey diamond. This will have selected the tempo mark. You can now either press the delete key to delete the tempo mark or hold down the alt key and pres enter to edit it .
Perhaps another one of those occasions where different systems do different things.
When I try this - (It would be fantastic if it worked), I hit the tab key and I can see at the time that the lyrics are highlighted, the tiny dots surround the OK button indicating that the focus has shifted to the OK button. This means also that I cannot do a CTRL C to copy without clicking back in the lyrics pane and this needs to be done at the end of the highlighted lyrics or else the selection gets shortened.
The only other way round this (for me) is to hit the tab key 4 times - the focus is then cycled back to the lyrics.

If one is preparing scores for multiple parts/instruments/voices why wouldn't one print the separate single parts? To me this seems such a logical move.
Well - speaking personally, If I am singng in a double choir - or even if I am singing in a piece with first and second bass (in my case), I will always want to see what the other choir / other bass line is doing or about to do. It helps! And then there are the conductors who say .... at measure xx, will the first basses of choir one sing with choir 2 / and quite a common one - will first basses back up the tenors at that point (tenors seem to be hard to find)
This won't natively work with NoteWorthy because NoteWorthy doesn't (yet) support VST.
However, you can get it to work if you download Garritan Personal Studio.
What this does is to give you GPO studio devices in the playback - so if you goto Tools / Options / Midi you will then see in the available play devices, GPO studio 1 to GPO studio 8. (ie 8 of them)
Each instance is 8 slots. (or eight instruments) - these can then be assigned to the midi channels with different instruments.
Can't be much more help since it's not me that did it - but I know it can be done.

I do not often disagree with Lawrie - and he is quite right that the answer is no. BUT as with a lot of things in NoteWorthy, there is a sort of a work round that will work for both version 1 and 2 files.
Fortunately, Noteworthy allows you to open a single file in the editor ( NoteWorthy Composer or NoteWorthy Composer 2) AND the Viewer at the same time.
So what you have to do is to save the work you have done in whichever exeutable you are using, then open it in the NWC Viewer. In the viewer, go toTools / Options and set "Start play countdown" to something like 8 and then click "Play"
ALT TAB back to NoteWorthy Composer and set it up as print preview and hover the cursor over "next". In a few seconds, the player will start playing the music and you can follow on the print preview, clicking next at the appropriate place to turn the page.
OK - you don't have the red chasing notes - but you are listening to playback while looking at the notation in a sheet music form rather than the horizontal form.

I don't know if this will be a problem since I have yet to figure out a use for the format.
Well Rick, I think you of all people will possibly find more uses than many of the rest of us. You have found some really useful ideas using the straight forward text clips - (Hidden rests for example)
However, since Eric first introduced this format some considerable time ago, I had a sneaking suspicion where it might be leading. Then, because there had been no apparent change or development with the text fuctionality - I sort of did a wobbly on the idea - but with this improvement, I'm back to my original thoughts.
I think Eric might be developing a system that can eventually be used (perhaps with an additional program) to export and import mxml directly. Since there will also be other uses for an inbuilt text language other than mxml, it makes sense to develop NoteWorthy's own text language and then use a conversion program. This will allow Eric to maintain control of what and how mxml is converted, and also to put in text functions that are not supported in mxml but might be one day, and so on. This will also lay the groundwork for when ( /if ) xml replace html as the chosen internet language.
