But you must force a system break on the visible bar line if the system needs to break there.
I did put the system break in my version - just forgot to say it. I think in my version, I needed to exclude the bar count because of where I put the invisible bar line in comparison to a clef that I entered for the beginning of the next line. Your version removes the need for that and is more elegant (if elegant can be applied to such a fix !)
Here is a not very elegant solution to the problem. It involves invisible bar lines with certain ones excluded from the bar count if you are using bar numbers.
You need to download Garritan studio which links to Kontact Player via a virtual midi cable such as Hubi's loopback. Not particularly easy to set up at first but once set up - it's OK.
Garritan have said that they are due to release a new version of GPO which will not need Kontact Player - but it is overdue.
What you can do is to put a hidden muted blankspace wholenote gracenote with appropriate accidental in front of the note that you don't want to have an accidental showing (and then the note without an accidental will play as if the accidenal were there). Even though the grace note is muted, the hidden accidental still changes the note that follows.

Put in your dynamic marking (say mf), then you will see a light grey diamond to the left of the marking. Select this diamond (Shift arrow). Once selected, then ALT Enter to get to the properties. You will then see the overrides for velocity and volume.
Once you click on the override boxes and enter the values you want, when you click Ok, you will see the values you entered in brackets in a light grey colour.

Forcing a Crecendo or diminuendo on a single note will not happen on all configurations / sound cards. However, if the VOLTEST works for you, then you should always be able to make it work.
The trick is to edit the previous dynamic marking and the next dynamic marking so that the values (velocity and volume) are specified (rather than the default flag).
These are what you need to change the volume on a single note (or a tied note).
That machine appears to have all you need - it has a mini USB port and so I believe that all you will need in a mini to standard USB cable (no doubt supplied with the keyboard). So I do not believe that you would need a midi interface. (This would enable you to connect a midi port to a USB port).
As far as the controller bit is concerned, I think you should be careful before jumping in ! If all you want to do is play a key / chord and have that chord appear on the screen within a NoteWorthy file, then essentially, you can do that (there are a few ifs and buts).
If you want the keyboard to control a whole host of midi functions (more than the most basic), then I would be tempted to ask more questions on this forum from people who have tried to do such things.
I guess what I'm trying to say is that just because the midi keyboard will deliver midi instructions to NoteWorthy, it doesn't necessarily mean that NoteWorthy knows and has been programmed to interpret them.

I think that the dots would be much better placed as if you moved the chord down by one. In other words the dots for the above should be in the same places as for this:
Ok so you move the chord down but the dots don't move - but that's ok in my book, it would look / print much better. In fact in Rick's whole note examples, although the dots are not aligned, this is what happens in that case.

I'm no expert, but I suspect that the answer is that the internal search engines will only search areas on the site that have been pre-defined or that there is a table of items that it searches through.
The Google search engines get their data from "crawling" from site to site, page to page, link to link picking up references and storing them away for use in their search engines.
So a Google search engine (or any of the main search engines) may not pick up some references until one of it's robots happen to have got to the page from another link - so it may be several weeks before a new item is picked up.
In a custom built search facility, the item will be there as soon as the item is added to the facility by person looking after the web site.
Applying that to the Scrioptorium for example, if you use the internal Scripto search engine to search for Boxmarks, the only hits you will get are those where Boxmarks has been mentioned in the info files that accompany submissions. You will not get a link to the helpful page to download boxmarks because the search engine has been specifically designed to search the music files, not the main HTML pages. But you will find a "Google" search engine link to the to boxmarks download on the helpful html page.

Well following on from where I think Lawrie was going, I believe that it can be done. (With either NWC 1 or 2)
Set up VST is the way Lawrie described in his "VST for Dummies Like me" introduction. Make sure it is all working.
Having done that, go to the VST program and in the View Menu, select "Keyboard Bar" Also in the View menu, select "configure Keyboard bar" In there select Channel 1 on the wheel in the keyboard tab. Also select key labels if this will help.
Go to NoteWorthy and load in a piece of piano music. Make sure that both the Treble and Bass staves (left and right hand) are set to channel 1.
Now, you will need to arrange your screen so that both programs share the screen. - Say NWC on the top half of the screen and VST Host on the bottom half. (Actually, the VST host will need much less because the virtual keyboard will remain at the bottom of the VST screen.
So now, you have NoteWorthy with the piano music and VST with a Virtual Keyboard. Set the focus on NWC and press F5 to play and there you go.
As NWC plays the piano music, the Virtual keyboard in VST shows which notes are being played (with key labels if needed). What you can also do of course, is to set the tempo in NWC to suit your learning speed.
An excellent document - (Hope you will allow it to be linked from the Scripto eventually)
I have the following comments :
Step 1 Since this is for "Dummies" in the sense that the reason they are reading this is that they are starting from scratch, I would also describe how to turn UAC off, install and then turn it back on again. It may be that the "student" is also completely new to Vista and will need help with this too (This could be as a footnote or an appendix if you do not wish to spoil the flow of the document). Many would not want to take this step without a guide.
Step 4 - Here is another source of soundfonts http://www.members.shaw.ca/glitch/sffiles.html but please respect his her (thank you John) request about not downloading all at once - then there may be a chance that they will be around for a while.
Page 6 Turn off autosave performance I would recommend that people ensure that this is not ticked (In the File Menu) since any errors made will be "autosaved" and this could lead to problems getting the whole thing running again. (Can you guess what happened to me !)
You can also try double clicking on one of your old songs using the windows explorer. This should then load the old song into the newly registered NWC2. See what happens then if you make a change and try to save it. (Don't make many changes before trying)

I think David and Rich have used them more recently.
Indeed I have. The process is relatively painless. With Sharpeye you load in as many images one at a time.
Read in the first image of a piece of music
It's then a matter of pressing a button to read the images.
Once read, the software will tell you if it thinks something is wrong. At that point I usually ignore the problems although you can correct if you like. These are most likely mis-readings (the better the image, the better the reading - but you can get issues with chords, grace notes etc. You can save at this point.
Now you can load in the next image and so on. You now have the option to replace or append to the current read sheet.
Continue in this manner until done. At which point you can save to mxml format. (You could save each scan if you wanted)
Now you can load this output into Nicolas Hatier's program. Note that NWC2 needs to be running.
When you load in the mxml created above, the program then creates the appropriate number of staves in NWC2 - Job done.
It is at this point that I prefer to do most of my amendments rather than in Sharpeye - but you do get used to which ones are better to do in which product, but it is easier to amend in NoteWorthy. I wouls amend in sharpeye if knew the error would give timing problems in the mxml. The main problem I have with mxml2nwc is that it creates a new staff for any chords where the flags are going in the opposite direction to the main flow. So if you have a piece of music that has quite a number of two directiional chords, there will be a lot of post processing if you want to correct this.
If you use Photoscore rather than Sharpeye it is also possible to read in pdf files as long as you have ghostscript installed.
Actually Bill, you are quite wrong (for me) - previous explanations of this have just been "it's a requirement to play the harmonic note" or "it's the harmonic note two octaves higher than written". I was going to answer Kristopher in a like way - but decided not to in case someone else with better knowledge answered - and you did.
Thanks from me - I'm glad to have the additional information.
I misunderstood the way you were achieving the transpose. I thought you were saying that you used the staff transpose (Staff Properties / Instrument). Now that would have been a bug. However after trying this in varied ways and not reproducing your observations, I realised that you meant Tools Transpose Staff. After trying this, I see what you are saying.
However, I agree with Michael that this is not a bug since the original key sig is non standard. This effect is not displayed when a standard key sig is used (D Major with 2 sharps for example)
The way to resolve it, of course, is after the transpose, edit the key sig end enter back the non standard key ( c and D) and then audit accidentals.

I am not sure that I understand what you want to do. Are you asking for one nwc file with one staff, split into 10 different exercises such that each excercise will print out on a separate piece of A4 paper (for example)?

If you're using synthfont, then you can actually go straight from NoteWorthy to Synthfont without the intermediate midi stage. This will mean that you can just change the values in NoteWorthy for each voice, play the file using synthfont as the output medium, then change for the next voice. You can complete the job without having to save to midi.
You will need to install either midiyoke (from http://www.midiox.com/ ) or loopbe (from http://www.nerds.de/en/loopbe1.html ). You then set up NoteWorthy with an output of midiyoke (rather than midimapper etc) and use midi yoke as the input port in synthfont. (or loopbe as appropriate)
When you first run it, you will find that the sound is probably terrible in comparison with a direct midi file - but if you mess around with the latency settings, you will be able to overcome this.

You boot from the Acronis CD which you created from the Acronis software. Backup to a USB external hard drive (is this as one backup image or is it in several iso images so that you can then put onto DVD ?) Verify the backup.
Every complete restore that you have done, is first started from the bootable CD?
Are you able to restore specific files from these images or does that have to be from a non-disk image backup.
With the restore process, (if single file restore is allowed from the disk image backup), can this be done from windows without using the boot CD?
Finally - any Vista problems known about ?
Thanks
Slightly OT - but then it is protecting my NoteWorthy files (and my local copy of the Scripto for that matter) so it would be good to have confidence in the backup/restore process.

The Acer (at least the Aspire 5520) has both a mono microphone input jack and a stereo line in. I went the Acronis route in my early XP days - but had some problems with it and so gave up.
I was using version 9 and was testing it out. This was a real test where I was using a spare disk to try and restore a system onto it using a restore dvd set. When I tried to restore, on changing from disk 1 to disk 2, the process always failed. I tried several makes of DVD to no avail.
So I then tried to back up to an external USB drive, but in DVD format. On copying the images to DVDs, the process failed at the same point even though all had been sucessfully verified.
I moved onto a product called NTI backup which did do what it said on the tin - but I do have one or two niggles with it. Do you recommend that I give Acronis another try ? I would like to have something that I have complete confidence in.
The machine I have is an Acer Aspire machine - but I too had the issue with the "what-u-hear" functionality. This was also missing for me which actually stopped me from recording to wav/mp3 from the Garritan. Fortunately my son had heard of this issue and indeed, this seems to have been related to Digital Rights Management. A search on the internet found the way round it (at least for me)
Control Panel, Sounds, Playback devices, right click and then show disabled devices, right click on stereo mix which will now be shown. then properties - then enable "use this device".
So I now have the stereo mix / what u hear (hurrah !)
However apparently, there are many more issues with Dell machines as can be seen in many of the forums.
I haven't taken all this further yet - I'm waiting for the mysterious next Garritan version to see what that does.
Tony - much as I prefer XP as an operating system and much as I prefer not to have the NTFS filing system on my machine (I don't like all the restrictions it then enables on a machine which is mine !) - I would be reluctant at the moment to re-format as XP although I have to say that John's note that the X-Fi Audio Express drivers do support soundfonts under XP make me seriously consider this as an option.
I believe this is only version 1, but version 2 files can now be exported to version 1.
Edit Ahh Lawrie replied while I was typing - but both of us with the same result. Not on the Scripto because it hasn't been submitted - But having said that - I would be wary about hosting executables where I cannot see the source document and know that the compiled version is indeed from the source.
I think you mean John Hooper, rather than Josh Hauck. If you saw Josh's name against this piece somewhere, let me know where because I have probably made an error.

Just caught him before he went out. The name was "Parallels". He says that there are other emulators that are cheaper, but this one has a reasonable reputation.
