User Tools / Re: Audit Bar Lines tool
I really like this tool. I can see how useful it could be. However, I ran into a situation.
In the attached clip I'm using a whole rest for one of the measure after the 3/4 time signature change. The tool is returning a value that there is an extra beat (8th measure). It doesn't have the same behavior when the whole rest is after the 4/4 time signature. Is there a way to code the tool to recognize that the use of a whole rest in any time signature represents a rest for the entire measure?

General Discussion / Re: Why do you use Noteworthy?
The initial reason why I first started using Noteworthy (version 1.55) was to notate and transcribe a piccolo trumpet part for "Let the Bright Seraphim" by Handel that I was performing with a vocalist. It made it a lot easier to read parts than the ones that I created with my poor handwriting and manuscript paper. I then continued using NWC to notate and transpose parts for my Bb Trumpet and A Piccolo Trumpet for hymns for Sunday morning services, music for special occasions, and for weddings gigs. I also used the MIDI playback capability as my accompanist to rehearse and play along with. With the ability to playback the accompaniment as piano, organ, harpsichord or even full orchestras the variety of styles and genres of music I could rehearse were endless.
About a couple of years after dinking around with Noteworthy in this way, I became music director at a local church and began to use NWC with my choir for its ability to play back midi files on a keyboard. I would input piano reductions of musical scores, sheet music, and choir octavos. This allowed for anytime rehearsals with choirs and vocalists when the accompanist was not available and to create rehearsal tapes and CDs to let the musicians and vocalist "hear" their parts and how the music and rhythm should sound. Shortly after this I began to use NWC to compose original scores for musicals that the drama director at the church and I wrote.
I eventually inherited the worship ensemble at the church on top of the choir and began to start using NWC to create arrangements for the worship band and to create lead sheets for the vocalists.
I've recently taken an 18 month sabbatical from any musical activities but continue to follow the developments of NWC. I like the recent developments of MBRs, orchestral bracket, and cue size clefs and cannot wait to dive back into composing and arranging with NWC.

Nice enhancements! These will definitely cut down on the amount of time it takes to modify a score with a large number of staves in it. Thanks.

User Tools / Re: Generate Note Names From Your Staff Automatically
If you pass throught a clip that contains a grace note and select the output of the clip as Lyric Text in the Note Names tool, unless you change the Lyrics Syllable property for the grace note to Always, it will not recognize the grace note, and thus, will not name the note. However, if you pass the same clip through the tool, regardless of the Lyrics Syllable property, and select the output as Notation Clip Text, the result will paste correctly as well as afix the note name to the grace note.

User Tools / Re: A better Arpeggiate Chord
Forgive me if I missed it but is there/will there be a prompt that is to be added to the script command that would allow a user the ability to select the duration of the grace notes, as well as whether the arppeggio is to go up, down or random, each time the script is used or is to be only changed in the "hard coding"?

I have had the same behavior happen to me that Lawrie describes while using IE6. So I don't think it's just germaine to the latest IE browser update.

In the preceding clip there are two occasions where a pitch is "doubled" (i.e. Soprano and Alto on the same staff singing the same pitch, same note duration and on same beat, scored as is customary with one stem up, one stem down) and dotted where NWC2 places two separate dots for the same pitched note. This appears to be wrong and, at the least, confusing. Prior to 2.08 NWC2 and in NWC1 a "doubled" note that was dotted had the dots overlapped in the same spot so that they were indistinguishable from each other. As a musician, this is what I am accustomed to seeing in orchestral and band music and in church hymnals.
Does this seem wrong to anyone else and should this be considered a true buglet or am I out to lunch?

General Discussion / Re: Quick way to transpose notes?
Thanks for trying, but for me, Ctrl.+up or down just moves it more spaces then normal.
If you are simply trying to adjust certain notes on the staff, you will find that if you highlight the notes you want to move, press and hold down both the Ctrl and Shift keys and use the up or down arrow keys to move the selected notes, this will work.
If you are truly trying to transpose the notes, say for the sake of a musician who is doubling on a transposing instrument in the same song or because of a key change, that's an entirely different process closer to the one Warren describes.

General Discussion / Re: NWC2 Beta 2: Customizing the Notation Font Typeface
I appreciate the response to my query and the suggestions for which font editors to potentially use. Thanks.

General Discussion / Re: NWC2 Beta 2: Customizing the Notation Font Typeface
NWC2 Beta 2.01 includes full support for selecting an alternative NWC2 typeface. It can be found in File, Page Setup, Fonts. It is recommended that any alternate NWC2 system font use a typeface name that starts with "NWC2" in its name. User created typefaces should not use the term "STD" immediately following the "NWC2" in the typeface name.
which implies that any font used must include "NWC2" in its typeface name.
I'm wondering if this new enhancement will eventually lead the way to the use of other commercially produced notation fonts that do not include "NWC2" in their typeface name or if the trend will be towards only user created or modified fonts that do/must include "NWC2" in their typeface name. If it is the latter, does anyone have any suggestions on good resource materials (font editors, how-to's and tutorial) that someone could use to create typefaces that will be compatible with NWC?

General Discussion / Updating to the new Beta 2 version of the Viewer
There seems to be something amiss with the updating mechanisms for the 1.7 and Beta 2 Viewers.
First, after your announcement of the new Beta 2 Viewer, I tried to check for an update with Version 2.0 Public Preview 1.7 still installed and I received the following message from the Viewer web page:
"You are using the most recent version of this program."
Just curious why 1.7 wouldn't recognize that a newer verison was available.
So I manually downloaded and installed Version 2.0 Beta 2. Just for grins I selected "Check for Web Updates" from the Help menu and was transported to the Viewer's web page which told me:
"An update for this program is available. You can acquire the update from the following page:
NoteWorthy Composer Viewer Download Start Page"
Thinking that my system might not fully know that I had installed the latest version, I rebooted my computer.
After logging on again and opening the viewer once more and selecting the "Check for Web Updates", I again got the message that an update is available. Thinking "It may be possible Eric has issued an update already", I went ahead and clicked on the link and was sent to the Viewer Download Start Page. I downloaded and installed the update and for grins I go through the whole exercise again. Guess what? I still get a message that an update exists.
So to complete the experiment I've tried to uninstall and reinstall the viewer including Version 2.0 Public Preview 1.7, rebooting my computer after each action all with the same results.
Sorry to be so longwinded with this message but I wanted to give you as much information and let you know that I've cover all of the logical possibilities before I posted this as a possible bug.
