General Discussion / Re: NWC to WAV
There is a free midi to mp3 converter program available to download. I know mp3s are not as good a quality as wav but from there it is easy to convert to wav.

I haven't given a link deliberately as YMMV but a google search will quickly lead you to one.

General Discussion / Re: Printing problem
Hi Nadine

I agree with Lawrie Pardy and Noteworthy Online that the most likely cause is the printer driver.  HP's LIDL (Lightweight Imaging Device Language) drivers in my experience are the worst offenders.  If yours is an HP printer, and is PCL3 compatible, as distinct from LIDL, try installing the HP Deskjet 550C driver.  This driver is natively available in all flavours of Windows from 95 on, and is the "lowest common denominator".  Failing that, make a nuisance of yourself on the manufacturer's support website!  If you would like to post back the make/model of printer you have, and the version of Windows, I will be happy to offer further assistance.

Don't forget that you can have more than one printer (driver) installed in Windows for the same physical printer so there should be no need to uninstall the usual drivers you use by default. Just select the HP Deskjet 550C printer when you come to print.

General Discussion / Re: How to remove text from "layering.nwc"
Depends on what I actually want to do but I usually just use PageUp and PageDown keys to move between layers. This avoids the effort of separating them and also allows rests etc to be moved to a suitable position for printing.

In scanned music, the software I use isn't always consistent about the part it puts in each layer. When the parts are mixed up, it's more convenient to separate the layers, move the music around between staves and then re-layer.

YMMV

You can achieve much the same, or even better, result by using layered staffs and save a lot of work.  Just enter all of first voice on the top staff, stem up.***  Put all the alto on a second staff, stem down.   Then make the first staff property "layer with next staff."   And so on.

Is it just me or do beamed notes resist having their stem direction changed when you highlight the entire staff and change stem direction?
