Version 1.75 Discussion / Re: Problems with wmf files
Thank you very much Rick...

With my new Windows 7 platform I am now using nwc 2.0 and emf files :) ... "copy special" is not so far of what i do paintfully when cropping wmf or emf files (but i loose text i thougth attached with a stuff) but
do you know if i can directly "export" in a file (the result of "copy special") as in print preview/copy file? I need the wmf or emf graphic result of nwc editing to incorporate them in différent OO Writer docs...

Perhaps you see an easiest way to create the vectorial adjusted image file composed with nwc 2.0 - for a heavy document more than 100 images i cannot copy/paste directly but i refer to the vectorial files by links?

Best regards

Version 1.75 Discussion / Re: Problems with wmf files
Hello,

The same problem (wmf files -650- generated by nwc 1.75) are not correctly dispayed under Windows 7:
this is not solved this time by installing NoteWorthy Viewer.

About context:
Theses 650 files have been then encapsulated whith OO Writer in a 100 pages book: it was fine (i have not found better way) but what can i do now?

(I am now a 2.0 a new nwc user under a Win 7 machine i think i shall continue that way with epf files)

Can you help me?

General Discussion / Re: Printing, publishing the music sheet...
Thank you David for this third format! ;(

Seriously, for printing, as my tones are often short, I crop the nwc wmf output (with OO draw) and save the adjusted wmf picture, then integrate one, two or more high quality nwc wmf pictures(1) for a complete sequence in OO Write  (by linking) which export directly pdf files...

But, yes for the web, i could propose to also upload the pdf version of each tone easily generated from nwc composer...
one more file to manage (locally and on server) when updating one tone :(...

(1) i shall also generate once the picture formatted for the web. Remember that my initial question was to avoïd to manage two different file format but I have to agree with Rick : "No bitmap format will scale from 600dpi used for printing" thus... the topic is closed?

Thank you all

I understand i should have to manage and maintain 2 different pictures for each nwc file (one for printing, one for publishing)...
none other alternative except  nwc viewer.

I have to choose between those 2 ways.

Thank you Rick

General Discussion / Re: Printing, publishing the music sheet...
Rick, i crop my sheet music pictures, each is less that one page, but i have more than 100 pictures in my word document)....

It has been seen in a preceeding topic (old forum/?topic=7298.msg50375#msg50375) that to preserve quality for printing nwc sheet music from a word processor, the vectorial wmf format must be preserved (... I do that and it is really high quality).

How do you do with Irfanview?
... If I open with Irfanview (or xnview or ...) my noteworthy vectorial wmf picture and then directly print it : the result is soon really poor!
What mismatch?
------------------
Thank you for the examples, I feel that Bohemian Rhapsody (snippet) .png 6.8 KB, 600x301
is OK for the web but hardly sufficient for printing.

For my goal,
Libertango.png  0.78 KB, 169x251          is poor for web publishing
Veni_emmanuel.png 35.4 KB, 1575x2475 is poor for web publishing
Pedal.gif 5.64 KB, 721x209                    is OK for the web but insufficient for printing

You have surely advices for me to get a little bit better quality than Bohemian Rhapsody (snippet) .png 6.8 KB, 600x301... which could be convenient for printing and for the web..

or perhaps somebody know how to view wmf files in http or php?

Thank you

General Discussion / Re: Printing, publishing the music sheet...
easy... but you cannot SAVE the formatted picture, thus you must leave it INSIDE the doc (not with a link): can you do that with more than 100 sheet music pictures?
With links to external cropped wmf files it's OK and high quality for printing.

But my question is about web publishing...

I would like to have to manage only 1 picture per nwc file ad'hoc for printing and web-publishing.
How do you do that?

General Discussion / Re: Printing, publishing the music sheet...
First, I have to adjuste/crop outside the word processor and save the adjusted picture.
Then, with more than 100 nwc/wmf pictures I can't paste in the word processor but access to it by a link.

But for printing i have done that and it's OK (but not easy to maintain...)

Now, how can i publish (on the web) these nwc/wmf pictures? (yes i think that it has been possible to add wmf/emf viewers for html  but i feel it is not really up to date).

Is there something new to do you do that with nwc 2.0? Is there other output formats?

I would not like to have to publish the nwc file, neither a pdf page but a simple quality image.

General Discussion / Printing, publishing the music sheet...
Hello,

For printing my music, I integrate the output nwc music scores (~=100 files) as
wmf images in a word processor: quality OK with the wmf vectorial ouput format
(but not really direct with the 1.75 nwc version :(  see /forum/?topic=7298.0)

I want to publish theses images on the web... wmf format in not easy to manage:

is there someting new to integrate (nwc output) in word processors and publish on the web with ver. 2.1?

I do not want to publish the file in nwc format (requiring a plug-in) neither a pdf page but as a simple quality image.

How do you do that?

Thank for help

why not just send them the .nwc file anyway
...

the real wmf files i send have been cropped* to be easily inserted in a Word Processor

*which is not so easy!

Thank you

Version 1.75 Discussion / Re: Problems with wmf files
Yes i can do that but l loose the interest of having prepared a high quality wmf file easy to integrate in a word processor for my friends (non nwc users).

Is there a way they install the proper font easily?

Thank you!

Version 1.75 Discussion / Problems with wmf files
From nwc 1.75 I generate wmf files  (PC: Windows XP 5.1 SP3) and it works fine at home.
But on some PCs, the same file, with the same windows version is not correctly viewed!

what is wrong?

Telecopy viewer is used for wmf files on both machines (I don't know if there is a version number for this viewer).

Thank you for help.

The files (wrong and original) are on my homepage (pagesperso.univ-brest.fr/~vilbe/Perso) but how can i upgrade my membership to avoid the limitation of links in the post?

Version 1.75 Discussion / Indexing and referencing nwc files
Hello,

I would like to make easily searches through a folder containing a lot of nwc files (1.75).

I would like to make this search by keywords i have put in the info part of the nwc file: unfortunately windows/explorer does not "see" the words i have put in the file.
I do not want to do the search with the filename but by words in the file.

In brief, is there a way to select files by a content? or how do you do to select specific files without a part of the name?

Have a nice day.

General Discussion / Re: importing the cropped wmf output image in a word processor
Than you Keith...

I have spend a lot of time trying to crop the wmf output with various graphic tools (Ms Office Picture Manager, gimp, xnview, irfanview, SeepDoCrop...) with always a poor result.
I have now the explanation : wmf is a vectorial image and the preceeding graphical tools need pixelisation to get the matricial form => this operation leads to very poor results.

Briefly, to incorporate the noteworthy output in a word processor it is easy to crop inside the word processor but il you want to save the cropped image you have to do that before with draw and then "export" the useful part in a vectorial format (wmf for instance).

question solved with your advice...
thank you!

General Discussion / importing the cropped wmf output image in a word processor
Hello,

I have to paste the output wmf file produced by noteworthy (Preview/copy placeable metafile) in a wordprocessor (MS - Office, OpenOffice).
It works fine untill I have to crop the unusefull part of wmf sheet music: both wordprocessor do that but none is able to save the cropped image.
I am looking for graphic tool that could do that job before importing in the cropped image in the word processor (I need this adjusted image file to incorporate it in several docs).
Usual graphic processor (gimp, irfanview, xnViex, SpeedoCrop...) do not that properly (preserving the initial quality), wmf is a vectorial format and with pixelisation quality is lowered....

=> How can i crop the wmf output of noteworthy before incorporating it in a word processor (qualilty preserved)?
