General Discussion / Re: Proportional spacing for Printable
kahman-san,

I'm appreciated with you, yes that's what I want to say.  My apologize of poor English.
I expect (ex-2), second one.

Rick-san,

Thanks for the source code.
1) 8th + 16th + 16th, spacing ratio will be 2:1:1, I mean this.  But in this example it's 1:1:1, which is like draft-handwriting.
2) Some unevenly: not a big matter so far.
3) If adjusted the same way, one bar will be longer, looks loose.  In some case, only 2 bars in one stave, too long.

David-san,

It depends on the purpose, so in some case looks cheap.  Expecting improvement of spacing.

General Discussion / Proportional spacing for Printable
Please take a look of example.
This is from NWC2(.10) screenshot and is edited for showing difference.
It shows fixed spacing and looks bit redundancy.  In future, is it possible
that note's spacing can be proportional and adjusted automatically? (Now
can be W-I-D-E but can't be condensed).
Condensing spaces with proportional spacing--scores looks better, but it
would make NWC more expensive.

General Discussion / Coda and Indentation
I start making a full score for making each part's score.
Using "Force System Break", but one more feature request--
Force System Break with indentation, esp. for showing Coda.

I made a blank and invinsible bar.  But it doesn't effect on printing.
Any idea or next update?

General Discussion / Re: Problem using repeat bars and DC al Coda
Ewan-san,
Thank you for your score.  It's an excellent demo of the usage of editing playable.  As I've been writing MMLs, recent one is like this.
(Now I prefer editing Printable, as have been writing scores (not composition) with pencil and rulers on my schooldays.)

David-san,
Thanks.  This example is different than our usage, editing printable score.  But is also a feature of the software.  If manupilators print a score using MIDI data, it should like the example.  Repeat bug is not so matter for the example.

Lawrie-san,
Thanks for your explanation.  Yes, that's right.  Notations software around US$50-, NoteWorthy should be the best.  While the bugs is being handled by the programmers, we consider better and own way of use.  When a subscribe get too much tricky, it's the time to handle, I think.

Anyway, Repeat function has some bugs.  Expecting fixed in a future.
Let's find more tips & tricks, and even bugs, too.

I am Very Appreciated to enjoy this discuss and I got learned much more!

General Discussion / Re: Problem using repeat bars and DC al Coda
I'm also having this problem.
However, however, even if there are some bugs (such as mis-recognizing
special endings), I consider the usage as below.

This is a text-editor-like and MML-editor-like editor.
So, at this moment, I recommend the choice of your use.

1) Editing Playable (as Sequencer):
By using "Local Repeat", you can simplify repeated sequence such as Drums.
Some staves is shorter and others longer.  This is the way of MML-like editing.
Anyway playback should be correct as you expect.

2) Editing Printable (as Score Processor):
Of course you write Full part and staves, but sometimes playback is weird.

"Cost Performance" is pretty good.  Now, both usage can't be done at the
same time.  So I recommend to choose the one of usage.  Otherwise, we
would need more expensive editor.

Which one do you prefer for a score you're making now?

General Discussion / Re: Weird Repeat
Thanks for each reply.
My apology for my poor writing.  So I rewrite example for explanation.
Ignore any notation but Repeat. (Other manners is not matter on here.)
These examples are not used at the same time.  Use [SHIFT]+{f.5] to play each
or delete one of them.

Correct sequence on Example 1:      ("[: ... :]" means loop)
Bar No = 1 - 2 - 3 - 2 - 4 - 5 - [:2 - 3 - 2 - 4 - 5:]

Actually it recognized as "From Ending sign to Double Bar".
After the last repeat, both parts are ignored so actually goes:
1 - 2 - 3 - 2 - 4 - 5 - [:2 - 5:]

Changed before #5 to Single Bar, it goes:
1 - 2 - 3 - 2 - 4 - 5 - 2(Fine!?)

Another (Example 2) doesn't work at all.  The correct sequence is:
1 - 2 - 3 - 2 - 4 - 5 - 6 - 2 - 3 - 2 - 3 - 7
(Here, Segno should be "w/ repeat")

My Summary is:
(1) [: Master Repeat :] should be balanced (Ex. #1 isn't).
(2) Further Ending should been prepared, they can be used only once,
such as 1st Ending - 2nd Ending - Coda.  No Coda, stops weird.
(3) "With Repeat and to Coda" wouldn't work correctly.
Will work for writing score only.

General Discussion / Weird Repeat
Repeat and Special Endings sometimes don't work correctly.

Please see an example: After Final Repeat, it doesn't go neither 1st Ending
nor 2nd Ending, but strange place.  How can I resolve this?

Also, how it works for "D.C. w/ Repeat" or "D.S. w/ Repeat" like this:

:$:         (1st, 3rd & 4th Ending) w/ 4th to Coda   (2nd Ending)
||:       ||        |        |       |      |     :||       |        ||
                                                                    D.S.

Any idea?

General Discussion / Re: Just-fitting tremolo mark
Could someone give me one more help.

I can't find a fontset contains tremolo marks (\, \\, \\\) on a note.
Especally used for marching, Drum Roll.  As \\ and \\\ (see left-side up)
doesn't exist in a same fontset, so I'm setting 2 or 3 userfonts to find &
type a tremolo (roll) mark.    (attached image)

Tips & Tricks / Re: Courtesy Notes compiling
Thanks again.  Much improved.

I think you'd normally put a double bar line here:
Yes, you're right.  But it's my apology, just ignore this one,
because it's a dummy for showing Natural on next sign.

Quote
The fourth one isn't needed, because it will automatically be
placed at the beginning of the next line.
O-oh, that's correct(^^;.  Of course, not need write twice.
But this is effective to write time sig, need second one.
On positioning (#), need to check preview for just-fitting.
Edit screen shows difference sometimes.

I think text accidentals above the note are wrong musically.
I got it.  I checked a score and it's used for courtesy like this:
(use for full score with faster passage)

Finally, may I suggest adding a section close bar line, with a forced
system break, at the end?  Then your last line will extend to the right
margin.
Fine, it will work.
Attached shot is future property (just an image). NOTE NOT AVAILABLE YET!

General Discussion / Re: Clefs
Note that if you use a hidden clef for playback management then subsequent staves will not show a clef so you may need to judiciously place one somewhere in order to restore visibility on following staves.
I got an idea for restoring clef on the next staves.  Could you try some.
(See Tips & Tricks, I uploaded sample there.)

Tips & Tricks / Coutesy Notes compiling
Even though the playback is terrible, I want to make a better-looking
score--sometimes do you think so.  Here I'm compiling some tricks of
writing score.  It seems hand-writing-like but on the other hand, looks
so tricky.  Thanks to all NWC users giving advices to me.

Below is my explanation on each.  Hope you could understand my poor English:

(1) Courtesy Key change: Natural before the bar.
Insert C Major (Hidden); Put #/b one/s to be natural (Hidden); Put Natural
the ones (Displayed); Put a bar and new key sign.
(2) Show key(and/or time) change to next staff: Writing twice (very
handwriting-like), using hidden bar w/ Force System Break.
(3) Smaller clef: Use hidden Clef w/ smaller text.
(4) Restore clef: Further clef will disappear after (3), so put displayed one
on the top staff, using Force System Break.
(5) Courtesy Accidental: Simply put text.
(6) Accidental on the note: For use of writing small score (such as full score
with faster passage.)  This sample includes Hidden transfer, which makes
playback correct.

Possible difficulty is "Force System Break" to adjust each staff.
Get "Try & Error", and make small and big scores for print/publish.
I hope these specs will be available with simple operation.
(Sample is available on NWC2)

General Discussion / Just-fitting tremolo mark
For writing tremolo (see example of tremolo strings), which font is
better; as not fitting conciously for me.  I wrote tremolo mark
with "FontEngravorSet".
I keep trying to do so, such as filling space, using different
justification and alignment.  "Boxmark's" mark (/// or \\\) is for two
notes (like Do between Mi).  Could you help on this?
15
General Discussion / Accidental Notes
Is this a bug or spec?
When put a natural, it should effect only the same octave at a bar.  But in
NWC, it effect ALL octaves.

!NoteWorthyComposerClip(2.0,Single)
|Clef|Type:Treble
|Key|Signature:F#
|TimeSig|Signature:Common
|Text|Text:"F#"|Font:StaffItalic|Pos:8
|Note|Dur:8th|Pos:4|Opts:Stem=Down,Beam=First|Color:6
|Note|Dur:8th|Pos:5|Opts:Stem=Down,Beam
|Text|Text:"\"F-natural\""|Font:StaffItalic|Pos:-7
|Note|Dur:8th|Pos:n4|Opts:Stem=Down,Beam|Color:1
|Note|Dur:8th|Pos:3|Opts:Stem=Down,Beam=End
|Note|Dur:8th|Pos:2|Opts:Stem=Up,Beam=First
|Text|Text:"This (green one) should be \"F#\"."|Font:StaffItalic|Pos:11
|Note|Dur:8th|Pos:-3|Opts:Stem=Up,Beam|Color:2
|Note|Dur:8th|Pos:-2|Opts:Stem=Up,Beam
|Note|Dur:8th|Pos:-1|Opts:Stem=Up,Beam=End
|Bar
|Note|Dur:4th|Pos:-2
|Rest|Dur:4th
|Rest|Dur:Half

Also, featured request is:
Accidental's property:
Normal; Courtesty (with parentheses); Invisible;
On the note (used for condense space; such as full score)

General Discussion / Re: Smallness
Maybe I've mentioned before, it would be same topic.

Same situation for changing clef, such as Treble to Bass, or B to T.
Smaller clef can be displayed with text, hiding original clef.  But from
that point, all clef on the top disappeared.  If using Force System Break,
how can I adjust the length of each bar.  Looks much tricky.

NoteWorthy's score editor is text-editor-like.  So I think it's a bit
difficult to add graphic enhancement fot drawing score.

General Discussion / Re: Last Rests not played...
Please make it possible to disable. I would not always want that.

I think the last rests wouldn't need when you're editing score, maybe as you say.
However, it does need for exporting MIDI and MP3, etc.  Try some MIDI files
such like that playing on Windows Media Player or other player.  Without last rests,
sounds continue weired as it's not on musical manner.

Instrument Trees / Re: General Midi.nwcitree
\Percussion Map (Ch. 10)
Standard=0
Brush=40
Orchestra=48
SFX=56

Simply add the last part for Percussion map.

The other sets, depend on your sound system.  You may add on your use.

General Discussion / Repeat Function
"1x, 3x only", "2x start", "2x only", "D.C.(or D.S.) with repeat", etc...
Are they available in future?  Otherwise I'll have to write each section
which makes score 2x, 3x.

Tips & Tricks / Re: Inserting Groupings such as 5, 7, 9
I have wrapped up a summary of: Triplet (-3-), Quadruplet (-4-), Quintuplet (-5-), Sextuplet (-6-) and Pentuplet (-7-).

Sample shows how each n-plets can appear:
Staff-1: -5-, -6-, -7-, -8-, -7-
Staff-2: -3-, -3-, -5-, -3-, -3-
Staff-3: -4-, -4-, -4-, -4-, -4-    ...  each -n- is "Quarter".

Note as NoteWorthy Composer has text-editor-like score editor, so many notes, longer space -- as you know.  In some case, only One bar on One staff.  I'd like to have
smaller notes available (also can be used for cadenza, lead-in, alternative, etc.)

Now I can upload files.

General Discussion / Re: Feature Request: Note variation
Not quite on topic, but just in case Hiroki isn't aware of it, you can have a one line staff if needed (F2 for staff properties), as well as a percussion clef.

Thanks all.
As I'd been a member of school wind orchestra, playing percussions, I know of single-line
staff and perc. clefs.  However I just prefer 5-line staff (pops-style).  So I usually use that
kind of style.  That's all.

I'll look for other musical fonts for text-inserting.  And, anyway, looking forward to improving
system fonts and its use.

Hope that's becoming the point.

P.S. I'm just writing simple-and-some-broken English, so easier writing is appreciated.
Thank you.

General Discussion / Feature Request: Note variation
Here's some requests on the note which is quite basic on the score:

1) Additional Notehead
- Circled X for Whole and Half.     ... for Percussion's note (on Drums)
- Black diamond for Quarter ... 64th note.   ... also for Perccusion's note (on classical)
- White and Black Triangle ... note for Triangle (Perc.)
- "slash-like" ... for stroke on Guitar, Piano, chords. (see Band score on example)

As I'm writing Percussion parts on normal staff (5-lined) w/ F- (Drums & Rhythms),
or G-clef (Small and/or High-toned percussion).  So they are very appreciated.
They're for PRINTING scores.

2) Smaller Clefs for changing -- if printed so, its looks better.

Is it possible to be available them?  Please let me know.

Thank you.

General Discussion / Last Rests not played...
Hello.  I've just registered for 1.75b & NWC2 beta.

It's also seen on NWC1.75 and NWC player, Last rests are not played nor
convered to MID file.  In other words, they're ignored, which is not for playing
music.

Here's an example,  shown as "o" = Note, "z" = Rest (such as Quarter)

Score    =   |  o o o o  | o o o o | O z z z ||(Fine)
Playing  =   |  o o o o  | o o o o | O||(Fine)

At the last bar, after playing the last "O", then suddenly stopped.  That means,
if the time of rest "z z z" cut, the sound will cut very unconsiously.  So, is it
possible to play until encountering Closing Bar.
