General Discussion / Re: swinging notes
this method is easy and does work well. thanks guys. but is there a way to make sixteenths play evenly? if the tempo is changed to make the sixteenths play evenly then the whole score stops swinging. is there a way to make it so that the soloist or melody plays even sixteenths while the rhythm section still swings? can two staves play different tempos?

Since you had this working (reference reply 11), the obvious question is what changed that caused this new problem?

that's the question i was asking too. i copied the text for the config file that you posted in an older post into the usertools.ini file--that did the trick before--but it didn't help this time. i made sure that everything in the NWC2 folder on my computer looked identical to the NWC2 folder on my laptop since the tools work on there. everything looks the same but something still seems to be wrong.
i'm using Windows XP and my account is a comp. admin. account. hope that helps.

General Discussion / Re: user tools starter kit
i searched nwc2UserTools.ini and my computer came up with only one file. and it was in the right place, where i've been finding it. it wont let me upload the config settings file. is it the text that you want to see? here's what it looks like:

General Discussion / Re: user tools starter kit
sorry to keep having trouble with this. but the user tools aren't showing up yet again. i tried the test that rick suggested and the notepad did launch. i've tried everything you've suggested. there's only one NWC2 program installed on my computer. maybe something interesting: i installed it on my laptop and the tools work just fine on the NWC2 installed on there. i just hate working on there. anyway, anyone have any last suggestions?

General Discussion / Re: user tools starter kit
The Noteworthy Composer 2 folder is in the program files folder. when i open the NWC2 folder PHP and scripts are folders. when i open the php folder i see four items and when i open the scripts folder i see all the commands that should be showing up when running the program and some fonts that i've installed. it looks like everything is where you guys say it should be. but it's still not working. got any other ideas?

General Discussion / Re: user tools starter kit
ok the problem is that when i open tools, user tools, theres nothing there at all. no options to choose from. i tried installing it again and nothing happened. any idea what the problem might be?

General Discussion / Re: printing
to answer my own question, the simplest way in my opinion is to print it one sided and take it to kinkos. its a wonderful place

General Discussion / parts
if you have two parts written on the same staff, say oboe 1 and 2, is there an easy way to separate the two parts onto different staves?

General Discussion / Re: midi playback
and what if i dont have any overlapping channel ten assignments? would multi staves on the same stero pan have anything to do with it?
19
General Discussion / midi playback
after adjusting stero pans of the staves on some of my large scale orchestral works, the percussion staff does not play back as it should. i didnt adjust stero pans on the percussion staff. i left it in midi channel 10 and on stero pan 64. has anyone else had a problem with this? i was hoping tina billett could give me some response.

General Discussion / printing
is there any way to get a score to print odd pages and then evens? allowing it to print front and back easily?
23
General Discussion / Re: Midi Channels
Microsoft Midi Mapper? possibly... ive never done anything with my sound card. ive just used the one that came with my computer.. i guess.
24
General Discussion / Re: Midi Channels
Thank for clearing that up. But.. how would i then set up a score for a large orchestral score using more than 16 staves without having problems with midi playback?
25
General Discussion / Midi Channels
When creating a large scale orchestral score, should strings be placed all in the same channel? Whenever I do that, I get a sound on playback that isn't very string sounding. It's very nasal sounding. I guess what I really want to know is which instruments should be put into the same channel and which shouldnt so that they sound right when they're played back.

General Discussion / Re: Clefs
Thanks Lawire, but I'm not quite sure to go about doing that. I understand how to change the current font system. But then I'm kinda not sure.
27
General Discussion / Clefs
Is there a way to make small sized clefs (like when writing for cello and using tenor clef for two measures and then going back to bass, usually a full sized celf isnt used) using boxmarks or some other font? Thanks.

General Discussion / Re: Multi Measure Rests
Thanks David. Lawrie helped me get it figured out. I did mean multi measure rests, not barlines. There wasn't anything wrong with the barlines. The problem was I didn't have the right font selected. Thanks for your help though.
29
General Discussion / Re: Multi Measure Rests
David, after I installed the font you said, the bar lines weren't coming out as they did when I had swingdings installed. Is there a different text you have to use to make barlines with the new text?

General Discussion / Re: Multi Measure Rests
thanks very much gentlemen. it took quite a while to figure out exactly how to get everything installed. but it works. I do have one comment of reply however. The multi measure rests do make my parts look better David, but they have a very jazzy look about them. It contrasts a bit with the classical style fonts and stuff i use. is that just the way it is or was it made this way on purpose? thanks a million to both of you.

General Discussion / Multi Measure Rests
I'm having a peice I wrote played by the professional Philharmonic Orchestra in the town I live in played in a couple months. I want the individual parts to look neat as possible without having to write in multi measure rests by hand. It's really quite inconvinient that NWC doesn't support multi measure rests. I use letters to mark important spots in the peice so measure numbers are not an issue. I was wondering if there was a way to easily put in multi measure rests with text using numbers and if someone had a suggestion of what font to use and where exactly to put the numbers so that it looks neat. Otherwise, I'm in for a looooong process of marking the rests in by hand. I'd be greatful for anyone's input and/or suggestions.
