I'd rather deal with Wine than XP, personally. I'm on Mint and use Fluidsynth for the MIDI. Timidity didn't want to work well. I'm happy to compare notes if you want to give it another go.

I do think the blocking is at fault. I should have been more specific about what is happening. I load the main page and I click to go to the forum. When I try to login is generally when things go awry. It’s actually a connection refused message that I get. And once it shows up, the main page also doesn’t load. It actually doesn’t seem to be connection-specific because I’m typing this from a business cable connection. It seems a bit unpredictable but may have to do with how quickly in succession my connection requests come in.

I get a “page cannot be displayed” when I try to login to the forum from my home (cable) connection. It seems to work fine via cellular…

I think your copy of Malwarebytes is being a little aggressive. I'm able to load both sites on my machine and nothing seems out of the ordinary to me...

I'd say the biggest risk we run is that MIDI stops working. Microsoft seems pretty committed to backwards compatibility, and NoteWorthy Composer runs like a dream under Windows 11 for ARM, which I think bodes well for the future.

The file you uploaded only appears to contain the soprano lyrics and as far as I can tell, they are all shown. Is there perhaps a different version that doesn't work?

The weird part is the title of the window - "Web Browser." If it were a legit message, I would expect to see "Microsoft Edge" or "Google Chrome" there. I think a scan for malware might be appropriate.

Interesting. The best trombone cream seems to depend greatly on who you ask. I had one instructor who said to just buy POND'S Cold Cream. At any rate, the better cream never seemed to help my playing!

Windows 11 is not terrible. It's a bit like that friend that tries to be "helpful" by reorganizing the kitchen. Everything is still there, of course, but you have to wonder why they decided to put the plates there!

Regarding the missing "o" ... I seem to recall that this is a "feature" of vanBasco. Many MIDI file authors put copyright information as the first lyric syllable, so they decided it was best to just skip it.

You can use Wine or Crossover. Crossover is essentially the commercial version of Wine for people who want to run Microsoft Office. I’ve used WineBottler in the past - it’s a pretty simple GUI/wrapper for Wine - just point it at the NWC installer and it creates a Mac app out of it. It looks like the last update was in 2019, though, so development may have fallen off.

I don't use the viewer much, but I believe it has the ability to change the global tempo by a percent. That might be an advantage when creating a learning video.

YouTube should be able to handle it just fine. That's one of the things I like about YouTube. Give it just about anything and it'll convert as necessary. Although, it may take a while to upload if your Internet connection is like most and has a much slower upload speed than download speed.

Sure thing! I'm pretty sure VLC is up to the task http://www.videolan.org/

I think you need video editing software at that point. I've heard good things about DaVinci Resolve, but I've not tried it.

  Another vote for Audacity from me. It sounds like the popular choices are either Audacity for free or ProTools if you want to spend an arm and a leg.

The Green Bay diocese did things similar to Mike Shawaluk's, but I haven't heard an end date up here.

PS. Mike, I had no idea that you were in Wisconsin. If you're ever up in Green Bay, look me up!

Here in Wisconsin, a 16-page order goes into effect tomorrow that shuts down all non-essential businesses. "Non-essential" is defined fairly broadly. It still allows restaurants to operate on carry-out only. And the tax office that I work at qualifies under the "financial services" category. It basically just puts teeth ($250 fine or jail time) behind what he's already asked of us. Unfortunately, the library where I work at is interpreting the order as a demand to send everybody home (we were already closed to the public, which is all the order requires of us), and since some jobs can't be done from home or can't be done fully, many people will be either out of work or employed at 50%. Of course being the IT guy, I am both able to work from home and asked to keep working until the very last zombie.

I will continue to keep all who are experiencing real hardship in my prayers. I am counting my blessings over here.

So far life goes on here in Green Bay. Lots of cancellations (including bus service- yikes!), but church is still happening and I will pretty much be needed at work no matter what. We are lucky to have three paper mills, so we are confident that toilet paper will return. I'm running Folding@Home on any computer I can to help fight. Prayers for everyone who has it much worse.

In C:\Program Files (x86)\Noteworthy Software\NoteWorthy Composer 2\Setups , you'll find all the installers used to get you to this point. Copy this folder to a flash drive, install the installers oldest to newest, and you should be golden.

... though it looks like Richard beat me to it!

I tested this on one of our Dell laptops here at work, and I can replicate the problem using the built-in trackpad. However, when I plug in an external mouse, it works as expected. To me, this points to a peculiarity with the trackpad.

I wonder if it has to do with your tap-to-click settings... maybe play around with the mouse driver settings?

About all I can say is that it doesn't happen on Linux. The only little annoying bug we get is that tabbing through a dialog box moves the caret twice.
