Title: Multiple Voices
Post by: Jonathan on 1998-06-21 04:00 am
Hi everyone!!

I'm writing a marching band piece, and I was wondering, how do you do different voices?? At least I think that's what it is called. Here's an example:
I have to put the symbol crashes and snare drum on different staffs, which is a big hassle. Is there any way to put them on one? Even if they are on different beats?? Thanks for ANY help!!

Jonathan,

With all percussion (including snare and cymbals) you can use the percussion channel (either 10 or 16) and then, depending on the note you select, you can choose your percussion instrument.

A list of these can be found in the help file. Go to Common Questions number 6 for further information and help with percussion instruments.

For all instruments apart from percussion, you can change the instrument on the staff by selecting the insert menu and then selecting instrument patch. (Pressing key I is a short cut to this)

You may also check the "User Tips" or more specifically: http://www.noteworthysoftware.com/composer/usertip3.htm#drumkit

Listed is a way to assign specific notes on the staff to specific percussion instruments. The explanation is for windows 3.x but at the end is a way for Win95.
