General Discussion / Re: Repeat endings problem
I saw that there is a folder in Noteworthy for Scripts.  Should the file go into that folder or just into the main folder where all the Noteworthy files are located?

Thanks,

Ron

General Discussion / Re: Repeat endings problem
Rich - Your solution worked!  But I guess you already knew it would.  :-) Thanks so much!  At least now I can play the song and it comes out properly.

Rick - Please excuse my ignorance, but I'm not sure what to do with the script you wrote.  I know it's a programming script, and I've seen several here on the forum, but I'm not sure what one is supposed to do with it.  Thank you so much for your efforts!  It is greatly appreciated.  I hope you (or someone) will reply to let me know how these scripts are to be installed(?) and used.

Thanks again!

General Discussion / Repeat endings problem
Hi all - I freely admit I'm not the smartest person in the room, but I cannot figure out how to get the repeat endings feature to playback properly.

Here's what I'm trying to do.

I have a medley of songs that is 106 measures long from beginning to end.  I want the song to play through measure 100, then repeat back to measure 87.  Then play through measure 96, then skip to measure 101 and play to the end of the song.  Sounds simple enough.

Here's what I did, on all four staffs (staves?).  I should mention that this is a barbershop arrangement and thus has four staffs; from top to bottom - tenor, lead, baritone and bass.

1.  I put the "Master Repeat Open" bar at the beginning of measure 87.
2.  I put the "Master Repeat Close" bar at the end of measure 100.
3.  I inserted the 1st "Special Endings" bracket at the beginning of measure 97 and extended it to the "Master Repeat Closed" bar (at the end of measure 100).
4.  I then inserted the 2nd "Special Endings" bracket at the beginning of measure 101 and extended it to the end of the song, although I don't think that was necessary.

On the printed paper, all this looks fine and should work out great for our barbershop quartet.  However, on the playback, the first repeat ending plays and repeats seven times which I think is the default and then stops. The second ending never plays at all.

Any help on what I'm doing wrong would be greatly appreciated. And please simplify your answer since evidently I'm not smart enough to do what looks to be a simple repeat ending.

Thanks in advance,

General Discussion / Re: Another question about extending lyrics
Thanks for the replies.  I'll give both a try.

I'm not a programmer, but it doesn't seem it should be all that difficult to have a feature that allows one to ad the lyric extension where needed without having to add it in as a text insert.

General Discussion / Another question about extending lyrics
I am transcribing a song that has a lot of "oo"s and "ah"s in it and long line extensions showing how long to hold the notes throughout the song.  I unchecked the "Underscore shown as space" option and the underscore lines appear as they should.  But how can I then place these "oo"s and "ah"s in their proper place on the score since the space bar doesn't seem to move the text?  Any thoughts?

General Discussion / Keep note from playing on second verse
I have a song that has two verses.  In the first verse a note is played at the beginning of a phrase, but on the second verse that note is not supposed to be played.  How do I keep that first note from playing on the second verse and just skip to the next note?

Thanks in advance,

General Discussion / Re: Can slur and/or tie default settings be changed?
Thanks for the suggestion.  I can at least wait to change the directions of the slurs & ties until the end of the score and do it all at once.  That makes it a bit simpler.  But perhaps that is something that could be addressed in future updates?  Just one for the suggestion box. :-)

General Discussion / Can slur and/or tie default settings be changed?
I use Noteworthy to copy barbershop songs for learning purposes (I wish I were talented enough to create and write scores).  So that means the upper treble staff is the tenor part, the lower treble is the lead, and upper bass staff is baritone, and the lower bass staff is the bass part.  There are is a default setting that I would love to change and I'm hoping someone can help me with it.

On whatever staff I am editing, the default tie or slur direction is the opposite of what the music calls for and I have to change each and every slur or tie to curve in the proper direction, which is a pain to do.  That means a tie or slur on the tenor part points down by default, the lead points up by default, the baritone points down by default, and the bass points up by default.  All four of these defaults are the exact opposite of what they need to be.  Is there any way to change this default setting when one is editing the four staffs?  Any help would be appreciated.

General Discussion / Re: 2.5.5. Hangs When Accessing "New..."
I too have all of a sudden have 2.5.5 hang and "not respond" when I click on "New".  I only have one template that I've made that I've used probably 10 times with no problem until today.  I deleted the back-up to this template and the "New" command now works.  There certainly seems to be bug somewhere that it is happening to more than one person.

General Discussion / Barbershop music question
I use NWC 2.5 to help me learn barbershop music.  Quite often in barbershop the melody changes from the lead to the bass or the tenor part (rarely if ever the baritone). On the sheet music of such a song, there is a slotted line from the last note of the lead melody to the first note of the bass (or tenor) part showing that that part now has the melody and the lead is now part of the harmony.  When the bass (or tenor) melody section ends another slotted line points the return of the melody to the lead part.  Is there a feature in NWC that does this? I can't find such a feature (I don't even know what this slotted line is called), but I am new to this program and to barbershop singing in general.  But this program is a great way to learn new songs and perhaps one day I'll even compose a short tag or something!

Thanks in advance,
