Title: Beaming Up & Down Stem Simultaneously
Post by: Carl Mill on 2005-10-16 11:38 pm
I'm sure this question has been covered before, but I could not find a sufficient answer.  Is there any way to beam both up and down stems within the same measure without layering or adding some kind of text?  I don’t know how difficult it would be to program, but this feature would be a great help.  Problem displayed below.

!NoteWorthyComposerClip(2.0,Single)
|Clef|Type:Bass
|TimeSig|Signature:2/4
|Chord|Dur:8th|Pos:0,3,5|Opts:Stem=Up,Beam=First|Dur2:8th|Pos2:-11,-4
|Chord|Dur:8th|Pos:1,3,6|Opts:Stem=Up,Beam|Dur2:8th|Pos2:-8,-1
|Chord|Dur:8th|Pos:3,5,7|Opts:Stem=Up,Beam|Dur2:8th|Pos2:-11,-4
|Chord|Dur:8th|Pos:3,6,8|Opts:Stem=Up,Beam=End|Dur2:8th|Pos2:-8,-1
!NoteWorthyComposerClip-End

if you're talking about what i think you are then it is not possib;e without layering.

The only way to achieve this in NWC is to use layering. I do agree, though, that it would be a helpful feature.

Same here. Sometimes I have to add an extra staff, and layer it, just to get 1 or 2 bars right. I then have the choice between 'what the heck' and 'go for perfect', and I usually choose the first method.
