Adding more sounds to playback list

I am trying out NoteWorthy Composer and I wonder if or how to get more percussion sounds from the playback. Specifically I want conga, djembe and related instruments.

You can only get the drum sounds supported by your sound card. At a minimum, your sound card should support General MIDI percussion, which is demonstrated by the DRUMREF.NWC file in the sample songs folder.

I haven't read Eric's references, but basically to get those sounds, you'll need a sound card that produces them.
They aren't part of the General Midi specification, as such.
Some cards may have them as a "second bank" or something like that.
Any card with "soundfonts" (uploadable sounds), will need a soundfont with those sounds on them. As far as I know, there aren't any free soundfonts which contain these - but if you find one, let me know!

Thanks for the replies.

I checked my system and I have a Yamaha S-YXG50 sound card that has lots of extra sounds including all the percussion I want. Unfortuantely the docs with the CD are rather sketchy about how things are done and the HELP file is about useless, as usual. One of the blanks is how to access and specify a bank of sounds and then how to use it.

I've e-mailed Yamaha, but there has been no reply to date. It is possible that one of the downloadable manuals covers this, but I have't got that far.

s-yxg50 is a software synthesizer as opposed to a sound card however Shane Turner's information in the !msg#1083 parallel discussion should be helpful.

Frank, if you want I can scan in the drum kit chart from my manual and email it to you. Its mainly meant for my Yamaha XG but it might work with the softsynth too, I think the softsynth has several drum kits.
