Title: Automatic step
Post by: Flurmy on 2011-09-20 06:38 am
When using "linear sweep" in MPC you need to select a step.
It's easy to overlook that step (sorry for the pun) and choose a too small step (sorry again :-), with resulting odd troubles with the midi, or a too big step, with the resulting harsh sounding sweep.

Doesn't exist a way (an algorithm) to automatize the step selection (and automatically readjust it when changing tempo)?
Or someone found useful to purposedly set it to a "wrong" value?

I think not. The optimal granularity depends on what is being swept, the time that the sweep is in effect, and the Patch/Bank. It further depends on synth performance.

IMO, improvements can be made to the Tempo Variance Command (http://ntworthy.com/nwc2/help/MNU_TEMPOVARIANCE.htm) (Accelerando, Allargando, Rallentando, Ritardando, Ritenuto, Rubato, and Stringendo) so that it changes the Tempo only when 'Note On' occurs at a new delta.
