Chinese instruments 2003-05-01 07:55 am Several places on the net I can play chinese MIDI files and it really sounds like true chinese instruments. Pressing "P" (Insrument patch) gives however no possibility of choosing any chinese instruments - they all sounds quite western. I guess it has not something to do with my soundcard for that reason that it is able to play the above-mentioned chinese MIDI-files.Kind regardsSteffen Appelquist Quote Selected
Re: Chinese instruments Reply #1 – 2003-05-01 02:36 pm If you import the midis into NWC, you can see what instrument patches were used by the file's creator. Just be sure that Tools | Options | Import has "Insert Instrument Changes" checked.Another option is VanBasco's Midi/Karaoke Player which give a display of the instrument patches currently in use on each channel in one of its display windows. Re: Chinese instruments Reply #2 – 2003-05-04 08:49 pm Unfortunately NWC doesn't import nor does VanBasco show further midi controllers, like pitch bend. Many instruments are often variated using these.Also, an oriental instrument may be achived using a bank change. See your sound card manual for futher details on these. Quote Selected
