Object Plugins / Re: ChordPlay.nw
I always wondered where "Ti" comes from.
For a long time I was sure I misheard it!  :D  Then, somewhere, I read it...

Also the "solfeggio" name for what are, for us Italians, the standard notes was a bit of surprise to me.
It shouldn't. How can someone sing ("solfeggiare") "C" or "G"?  :))

UT queant laxis
REsonare fibris
...
LAbii reatum
Sancte Ioannes

The seventh note is called "Si" from "Sancte Ioannes"
Ut was replaced with Do at least since 1536 in a text by Pietro Aretino and comes from "Dominus".

Object Plugins / Re: ChordPlay.nw
Well, what's important is to understand.  :)
Let me know if you find something wrong. I'm not an expert of Lua.

Object Plugins / Re: ChordPlay.nw
Just in case someone (else) cares about this feature, this new version of the object can show and print the chords "the italian way" (I mean: Do, Re, Mi, Fa, Sol, La, Si).
It only shows and prints the chords that way. While editing, the chords are still written as A..G.
The choice is in a new parameter, "Italian style chords", that can be "Default", "Yes" or "No".
I think "Yes" and "No" are self explaining.  :D
If it's "Default" then it "inherites" the status from the nearest preceeding ChordPlay.nw that has "Yes" or "No". If none is found then "No" is assumed, so it's perfectly compatible with the official version (1.6). This is the reason why I didn't change the "developer ID".

Object Plugins / Re: ChordPlay.nw
I just discovered that if someone is missing the MusikChordSerif font the plugin crashes.
The bug is in line 192:
Quote
defaultChordFontFace = Arial
Arial is nil, so later the process is aborted.
The correct line should be:
Quote
defaultChordFontFace = "Arial"
in which Arial is the (quoted) typeface name.

N.B. I'm working on changing this object to show and print the chords "the italian way" too (I mean: Do, Re, Mi, Fa, Sol, La, Si).
It's almost ready and I will publish it here, but my feelings, from other tools and plugins, is that not many out there are interested in this option.

I could just document what it does.
Speaking for myself (and myself alone), a simple explication should suffice.
By the way: by now I had to learn a bit of lua and I know something more of the inlets of plugins.
Maybe now I could understand it better, if I had the will to study that plugin.

This NoteWorthy music requires two midi ports (devices),
Wow, Rich, you really want a big orchestra!

A couple of hints:
- In staff #9 you have a missing octave accidental.
- Why listening to such a big orchestra in mono, were it not for the percussions? Panning the instruments really opens the soundscape up wonderfully.

User Tools / Re: Test Release: nwc2musicxml
Sorry, Bart, but I disagree.
If you pass through MIDI you lose too many typographic details.
It is much better to seek the internet for some well done Musescore parts and export them in musicxml.

General Discussion / Re: Selectors
Thank you very much, Lawrie.
I was hoping for something more "structured", but your link is a good start.

I completely forgot the right click on the selectors.
No to say about the <alt><x> in "customize toolbars".

How many badly (un)documented tricks in NWC, buried inside old threads in the forum!

General Discussion / Re: any tricks for tied note decrecendo or crescendo?
Yes, Graham, you're right.
Indeed I regularily use the "expression" controller to leave the "volume" for an easy mixing control.
But, alas, as you can see NWC operates more easily on volume.
N.B. Using MPC you have to select how often and whith which step to send MPC messages on MIDI and this is a bit annoying.

General Discussion / Re: Custom Templates in NWC 1.75
NWC 1.75 by default saved the templates in "C:\Programs\NoteWorthy Composer\Template"
If changed at least once from the default the path is stored in "C:\Programs\NoteWorthy Composer\NWC.INI", as Lawrie wrote, under
[Folders]
Templates=C:\Programs\NoteWorthy Composer\Template
Take note that in the more recent releases of Windows the directories under C:\Programs are protected and need special autorizations to be modified.

General Discussion / Re: Articulation volume adjustment: accents, etc.
My Yamaha keyboard allows me to choose the touch (velocity) response I prefer for each voice.
But also: my Yamaha keyboard has a dynamic curve completely different from many other keyboards, not to say virtual synths.
In a nutshell: there is no standard for the dynamics!

Regarding NWC: since the development has suddenly stopped years ago with a beta version, at this point I believe we must do with what we have, as long as Microsoft allows it   :'( , then... bye bye.
I'm thinking to evaluate MuseScore. Someone has tried it?

General Discussion / Re: Creating a .bat file to convert all files of a folder to NWCTXT.
Opagust, are you saying that nwc-conv still works even with the newest (so-to-say  :) ) version of NWC?
It can be possible, since
Quote
nwc-conv just acts as a front end to the nwc2 program.
I can't find nwc-conv.exe anymore in my archives. Could you send me a copy of it?

Edit: Found! It was inside nwc2_UserToolStarter, not in a NWC package.
348
General Discussion / Re: Creating a .bat file to convert all files of a folder to NWCTXT.
Quote
The nwc-conv.exe command line tool is no longer included with the program. The program now handles this task on its own.

-convert: This option can be used to convert a file from one format to another.
Usage: nwc2.exe -convert "[input-file]" "[output-file]"

Both files are required on the command line and the file extension determines the conversion.
Supported conversions include:
.nwc    -> .nwctxt, .mid, or .info
.nwctxt -> .nwc, .mid, or .info

Conversions to .mid support a "-0" option for type 0 files.
Quote
You can invoke the NWC Lua interpreter by adding a -nwcut switch on the command line:

nwc2 -nwcut [YOURTOOL] < nwcfile.nwctxt > outfile.txt 2> errfile.txt

You must provide the redirects, as the program instance will not automatically attach to your current console session.

I think the problem is in the

In my computer it is "C:\Programmi\......." so I suppose you have it translated to flemish.
All that assuming that you don't have NWC installed elsewere, of course.
