General Discussion / Re: Soundfont Confusion
not at all. the water is clear.

i looked at all the itrees in my itree folder and compared it to a couple i downloaded from the scriptorium and to the sample on the link william gave me. i did figure out you have to create it manually and that the =n is the instrument assignment. any files i share will be with the default, that's why i kept it in one of the playback devices. the other device is strictly for converting files to wav for putting on cd's.

thanks for you input!

General Discussion / Soundfont Confusion
i have a Audigy 2 ZS. i have set my SB X-Fi Synth A device to hold three different soundfont banks. SB X-Fi Synth B is the default bank that was installed with the card. i did this using the Creative Soundfont Bank Manager.

in NWC, i went under Tools>>Options>>Midi tab and set the device playback so that SB X-Fi Synth A is the first playback device with SB X-Fi Synth B as the secondary and the rest in no particular order.  When i play back a file, it plays the incorrect instruments. if i go into staff properties to define instrument, it only shows me the defauls instrument tree. it doesn't show me the instrument tree for the soundfonts i've loaded. so i guess if i switch the playback device from SB X-Fi Synth A to SB X-Fi Synth B (the original soundfont bank for my soundcard), it plays back correctly. am i right in concluding that instrument patch 72 is different instruments in the two soundfont banks? how do i fix this? how do i get it to show me the tree for the soundfont bank i loaded into SB X-Fi Synth A?

geez. i hope that made sense. please lead me on this. in the past, i've done notation in NWC, then imported the files into cakewalk to apply soundfonts. i really want to learn how to do this in NWC to skip the conversion steps.

General Discussion / Re: autobeam issue in split measures
i often use the "exclude from bar count" when a repeat splits a measure. i also use it in conjunction with setting the barline's visibility to "never" to transcribe early music that has no bar lines. for me, they are two very useful features.

General Discussion / Re: autobeam issue in split measures
i have since learned that there were some problems with the satb template. it seems that's where the problem was. it only does it in my template which is based off an older template. sorry. should have thought about that before.

General Discussion / Re: NWC is good. Will it become great?
wow! everyone had such great replies to kongsverre's original post. i think kongsverre was saying it would be nice to have some of these things native in NWC so we don't have to spend so much time making tool or manual items happen and can spend more time writing music! just my take on it, fwiw.

General Discussion / autobeam issue in split measures
if there is a measure that is split by a bar line (such as a open master repeat) and any beamed notes are after the split and before the start of the next measure, NWC2 does not autobeam the beamed notes. this happens with 8th, 16th, 32nd, 64th (i didn't check it beyond that). it also doesn't autobeam beamed pickup notes unless they are preceded by enough rests to constitute a full measure in accordance with the time signature.

General Discussion / Re: Special Endings More Than One Measure
hi! sorry it took me so long to get back with you. actually, the problem was nothing more than the way the measures were falling on the page. i just had to tweak where the lines started in the measures. once i did that, it worked great! thanks so much for the heads up!

worked pretty well on-screen, in viewer, and printing from within nwc. not so good when i run it through adobe distiller. i'm going to try tweaking it to see if i can get it to distill properly.

thanks again for the tip!

General Discussion / Re: Score Size
i really like the control we have over printouts of sheet music with NWC. it's very flexible and gives you several options to make things better fit the paper on which we're printing.

why can't noteworthy have an option where we tell it to "make it fit" a certain number of pages? such an option could be on the page setup screen. i really think it would take noteworthy to new heights if it automatically adjusted staff size, staff spacing, note spacing, etc. to fit on a user specified number of printed pages of a user specified size.

NOTE TO NWC STAFF:  just a suggestion. it's a great piece of software, and i find it the easiest to use of all the other notation applications out there. i recommend it to everyone from beginners to experienced musicians. please take it into consideration for a future version.

thanks!

General Discussion / Re: Special Endings More Than One Measure
thank you so much. those extra measures just look lost without that line extension over them. got the downloads from the scriptorium. going to try it out now. will post back after giving it a shot.

now if we could just get NWC to have it do that automatically (HINT! HINT! THIS IS A DEVELOPER REQUEST FOR NEW NWC UPDATES!!!)

thanks!

General Discussion / Special Endings More Than One Measure
if i have a special ending that is more than one measure long, the line above the ending number does not extend beyond the first measure of the ending (1st, 2nd or otherwise). i'm not concerned about 2nd or other endings, but is there any way to get that line to extend to the end of the first ending (the repeat bar) when the 1st ending is two or more measures?

General Discussion / Feature Request: Headers and Footers
is it possible in nwc2 to have song title appear in a small font on all pages subsequent to page 1?

is it possible in nwc2 to make the footers appear on every printed page of a score?

if either of these is possible, would someone please enlighten me?

if not, would the nwc2 developers consider making both of these optional features, perhaps with a little checkbox by the text entry boxes?

thanks!
