Probably because it's not that easy natively - Neither is it easy to know what to look for. But it can be done.
So - without using external user objects :
The standard range for Pitch Bend is 2 semitones.  But you can change this on the Instrument set up.
Example ......
So, supposing the instrument you are using is a trumpet.  Set the trumpet up for the staff . (ALT Enter and select the Instrument tab)
Select Trumpet from the pre defined Instruments.
You will also see a box that says "Set Pitch Bend Range" . Tick the box and set the value to 24  (24 semitones).
Click OK
Now set a note you want on the staff, make it a half note .  Before the note, select Multi point controller ("L" key or from the Insert menu).
In the controller box, select Pitch Bend. Select Linear Sweep in the Style box. Select Note Resolution quarter.
Activate the setting 2 box.  and move the marker to the end (ie 8191).  Click OK.
Press play.
You will need to experiment to get exactly what you need, but that is the idea,

An alternative, and much easier method is to use Mike Shawaluk's  Glissando.ms user object.

Set your start note. Set your end note. Mute both of them.  Put the Glissando object between the muted notes.
If you wish, you can change the text so that it says port. rather than gliss.
In the playback box select Pitchbend.
Press play.

I think it is a Acciaccatura.ms  bug in that it only reads the clef once at the start.
When it is positioned before the clef, Treble clef is assumed.
When it is positioned after the clef, that is the default which doesn't change even  if the clef does.

This is quite common with HP laptops.

You have two options. 

1. Use the function key with F5 and this will perform the play/stop functions.

If however you really wish to have F5 alone perform the actions, then you need to :

2. Go into the BIOS and change the action on the function keys.
Below a link to some more information for you.
To some, this looks daunting, messing around in the BIOS, but it is OK.

I imagine that it's the Windows 10 creators update.

They did quite a bit of work with sound and audio processes. In my case, it cured a problem I was having that I actually thought was a hardware problem.  However, you do a Google search for "Windows 10 creators update audio not working", you will see that there are many problems with the update from an audio point of view.

If you download and install Virtual Midi Synth from Coolsoft ( http://coolsoft.altervista.org/en/virtualmidisynth ), - free !!!!  you can then configure Virtual midi synth with a number of sf2 soundfonts.
These can be set up so that the first soundfont will be used if the soundfont has the patch. It will then try the next one and so on.

You can therefore configure it with a good piano, a good flute, a good violin and then a general sound font for other instruments.

Having done that you will find that in NoteWorthy, where you currently select Microsoft wavefont, there will be a new entry of
VirtualMIDISynth #1. Select this and then Noteworthy will use the soundfonts you have configured in Virtual Midi Synth.

Hope this helps, I think it is easier to use than using a midiloop cable

I suspect that there maybe a midi overload problem on your pc perhaps. There is quite a lot going on in this nwc file around this point.
Not easy to cure.

You say you are using this as a rehearsal aid.  If it is for a choir, you may have better luck if you use John Hooper's version rather than Carl Mill's version. Yes, I know John's doesn't have lyrics but john would say that you can rehearse with your score in front of you and so you don't need the lyrics. (We often disagree on this point)

But as far as choir note bashing is concerned, the SATB lines in John's version will be accurate and the music will not suffer from midi overload since John reduces the orchestral parts down to just a few staves.

Just a thought.

After some quick email exchanges with John, it would appear that we are not seeing the same things in the forum.

Everything that I see in the forum appears normal to me.  Some of what John is seeing may be as a result of something like Norton resetting/killing cookies perhaps.

But that wouldn't explain all of it.
