Title: Mmm, new editor window
Post by: Lawrie Pardy on 2005-10-26 11:55 pm
Hi guy's,
noticed the new message editor window in the NWC2 forum?

Nice!  Thanks Eric.

I wonder if it will appear in the NWC forum... ?

Probably not (at least not directly).

Nice.

I like the additions to the ! commands.

The rules are good.

I would like it very much if Eric would program the website to allow him to block the few overactive flamers.

A webmaster for a comprehensive jazz site with some Ellington content blocked anyone accessing it from a hyperlink on my http://ellingtonweb.ca.  I still don't understand why he would have spent obviously hundreds of hours to developing his magnificent site, which is easily found on Google, if he didn't want people to visit it.)

Based on this experience, I think a flamer's IP address can be found and blocked.  Here are a couple of references that might explain how:

I noticed that little icon, and wondered what it did. Now, to try it.

Ah, it doesn't do what I thought it would (or, I don't know how to use it). I refer to the little text-pad icon, at upper left of each message. I would have guessed that it enabled me to edit my own already-posted message. Instead, I get the message in a text box, and I can change the contents - but not re-post it with changes.

I am accessing the forum via the NWC2 program. But I don't use the "remember me" checkbox. Is that important?

Retroactive editing is useful for removing temporary links. On another forum, which is bilingual, I often go back to clean up my grammar so that it is more comprehensible to others.

You cannot edit your posts in this forum.

Ah! Interesting!
I was just curious to see what people were talking about, as I couldn't get to it from work.
Any idea as to when we might be able to authenticate without arriving via NWC2? I tend to browse this forum mainly from work, where I don't have it installed.
