Title: Screen Set-up
Post by: Norman Butchko on 1998-03-26 05:00 am
Is there any way to change the spacing between the bar
lines? All I've seen is the ability to edit the number
of spaces above or below the main area, but nothing
between individual lines. A song I am doing has a chord
with "C" and "D#" together, but NWC writes them as two
separate, but close, notes instead of a chord.

That's how it's done in all notation editors I've seen
(and most printed music). If it really bothers you,
you could always write the D sharp as E flat, but this
might clash with your key signature and set the purists
teeth on edge. See thread 503 - G sharp or A flat - for
a lively discussion of complex issues!

I thought of that, and the double flat/double
sharp options too. it just seemed like an option
that might be available since there are many "page setup"
options - screen setup didn't seem less important.

Thanks

I'm not sure I understand the problem. When I enter C nat and (control-enter) D sharp, I get a chord with the C on the left of the bar and the D# on the right, which is how it should be. What do you want them to do? One on top of the other? That's only for notes more than a second apart. Intervals of a second stack with the lower on the left of the bar and the higher on the right, afaik.

I said <<Intervals of a second stack with the lower on the left of the bar and the higher on the right, afaik>>
Scrub that. It seems they can be either side, depending upon what's above/below them.
