Monologues/"Talk-Singing"

I'm sure this has been asked before, but is there a way to make silent notes ("x notes")?  I wrote a song that starts with one lyric stanza of rhythmic "talk-singing," but I can't figure out how to make the notes not make pitches and just be silent or something.  Does anyone know how to help me?

X-note heads are included in NWC2.

For muting, just highlight the note and check note properties.  When the window pops up, you can check the "mute" box and turn the note off.  You can also mute the whole staff using staff properties, or pressing M to bring up a menu of staffs to be muted.
