General Discussion / vertical default cursor placement
I would like to have  the option to preset the page up/down command so that the cursor will land on a different place than the middle of the pentagram.
This would save much time when entering fingerings for example: in this case I'd like the page up/down command to land on the highest note of the staff so as to speed up the text insertion, as the vertical adjustment won't be needed so much.
The page up/down command could be even more versatile when working on one staff only: in this case the page up command could shift the cursor to the highest written note and the page down to the lowest one.
  All the best

General Discussion / extend last system option
In order to avoid getting a long and empty pentagram at the end of the piece I usually rearrange the spacing of the last line manually, with break lines in the previous systems and space inserts. I often wonder if NWC can do this automatically instead.

General Discussion / creating a rectangular box around a group of notes
Quite a common need in modern music writing. So far I have used horizontal and vertical lines in Times New Roman. It takes ages to prepare and makes me feel pretty dumb, because each time the line layout changes (as a result of musical additions) the notes space proportions change too, while the text does'nt. Still, the result is reasonably ok. Or is there a better and faster way?

User 6 font should be set at Tiems new roman 13 regular

General Discussion / Can ties bend like slurs?
The tricks that help manipulating the slur curve don't seem to work with ties. So much that I often replace a tie with a slur, as long as I don't care about playback it's the only solution I have found. Anything better?

In this example I have inserted an invisible grace rest to in the middle of the slur and did the same to the tie. AYCS it fixed the slur curve but did not affect the tie.

General Discussion / slur problem
In a slurred group in which there are both visible and invisible notes the slur parabola becomes abnormally high. This is shown by the print preview, while the editing mode remains unsuspiciously normal. Not too difficult to find a way around it, but I think this should be corrected in the future.

This is what I have figured out so far:
1) The high parabola of the slur is caused by an invisible note which is at the same height or higher than the highest visible note that preceeds it, in fact if it is lowered by one tone both editing and print preview will work ok. Try doing so to the invisible high D in my example and see what happens at the print preview.
2) This only happens when the problematic note is invisible. If it's made visible there is no problem.

General Discussion / altered layout
It often happens that after converting an NWC file to pdf, the layout of the piece is altered, as the automatic definition of line break is somehow affected by the operation (perhaps shrinking to fit or else). What is worse is that it affects the original NWC file which becomes altered in the same way, quite a mess by all means: single bar lines extra pages, etc.

The program I am using is PDF995, that "mimicks" a printer.
Any ideas?

General Discussion / slur placement
Problem:
A slur will collide with the "3" of a triplet when its direction is towards the stem.
If the slur direction is inverted it will start by default from the lowest note of the chord member, which is not what I meant.
!NoteWorthyComposerClip(2.5,Single)

Using two staves is a half solution, because then the slur will penetrate the nearby chord member (F). Not so elegant especially in this case where it happens to be a hollow note.
So I wonder if it's possible to alter the slur placement versus notehead, (left-right-center). In this case the option "slur placement/right of notehead" could be a solution.

General Discussion / colliding accidentals
As items on one staff are not "aware" of the ones on another staff, accidentals inserted on layered staves often collide with each other. It's not always possible to overcome the problem by adding the same notes on all layers, especially when one of the notes is given extra spacing.
Any suggestions?

I' d like to post an attachment to show the problem, but I can't. At the time I was told it was because I had not validated my license, but now that I have done so the problem persists.

General Discussion / White color as digital tipp-ex
It occurred to me that if the white color was added to the available colors one could use it to hide items that cannot be hidden otherwise, like the "3" of the triplet for example.
I have chosen a windings a triangle from windings 3/font 16/yellow, so as to demonstrate the idea. Of course this would only work outside the pentagram, but it could still be quite useful I think.

General Discussion / fermata default placement - not a big issue, but...
At the moment we get by default:
Justification: left
Alignment: Best fit.

!NoteWorthyComposerClip-End

But since the fermata is almost always related to a note or to a rest, the result is that it is almost always misplaced by default,
and its placement needs almost always to be manually corrected. The default should then be:

Justification: center
Alignment: At next note

General Discussion / disappearing staff
while working on a (registered) 3 staff piece it often happens that one of the stave becomes partly invisible, it just stops at a certain point. It does not affect anything else, as print preview shows the real state of things, and if I scroll forward the part that was previously invisibe becomes visible again, but then it will happen again shortly afterwards and at times at another staff.

This never happened to me before in all the previous demo versions.
Anyone can help please?

General Discussion / Graphics: stem lenghts and stem lenght automatic adjustment
The default stems lenghts look very short in1/64 notes and in 1/32 beamed notes, and somewhat short short in 1/16 beamed notes  (Ex. 1 & 2) In the second bar of each example I have included an overriden lenght of beam as a default suggestion.
I believe that part of the problem is caused by the fact that the empty space between the beams is too wide. While in most editions it is more or less half the width of the beam, NWC the empty space betwen the beams has the same width of the beam. As a result the problem becomes more acute in the faster beamed groups.
Furthermore, when beamed notes are arranged in diagonal, like in a broken chord, the automatic rearrangement sometimes creates a strange looking result. When beamed downwards they look "crowded" while the same group beamed upwards looks quite ok. (Ex. 3).
It's a pity, because in general NWC graphics are clean and handsome.

General Discussion / Ctrl. x placement and visibility options disappeared from menu - Help!
Suddendly the visibility and placement options disappeared from ctrl. x menu, and I get only the text button option.
I checked with alt+enter (which still works) and the default option for the inserted text is now "preserve width" and "best fit" which is a disaster if you need to add fingerings. So from now on I will need to manually revise every fingering/text insertion. Help!

General Discussion / Graphics: note spacing with and without accidentals
I have compared NWC to well known editons where the extra spacing given to a note bearing an accidental is usually much smaller. Not a big issue, but to me it looks somewhat strange on the page.
Here are two bars: the first automatically spaced, the second with a 1.50 space added between the natural notes and before the bar line. IMO the manually corrected bar looks more natural.

General Discussion / beaming between staves / changing the stem direction within a beamed group
There is sometimes need to go with beamed notes from one staff to the other without breaking the beam line, like between the left and right hand on the piano for example, or in harp notation where this is common place.

The solution I have found is to move the cursor so high (or so low) until it reaches the adjacent staff and it is spot on the note I need on the non-active staff. After entering the note numerous leger lines will appear, but they can be taken off later (or in advance) and of course these notes should be also muted. On the other staff the real notes will be entered, but they should be non-visible and audible. And one should of course be careful not to change the distance between staves later on, so as to avoid disaster. Is there any easier way out?

This kind of notation (and not only tis one) often calls for the option to change the direction of the stem within a group of beamed notes, but I can't see how this can be done.
Any help?

General Discussion / Combining rests and notes
While adding a note as a chord member to the rest the program allows to add only a note that has a longer duration than the rest. Is there a way around this besides adding a new staff?

General Discussion / disabling the color change key shorcut?
I wonder if there is a way to disable the the color change key shortcut (slash). Since it's by the the "enter" key it sometimes happens that while striking "enter" it gets unintentionally striken too, and since I type without looking too much at the screen it is only after some time that a realize all the mistakes I have done in the way... And the color cannot be changed by selecting a note and striking the black color tab. Only the stem color will change, but not the notehead. Strange... So I need to erase all the colored notes and re-enter them again, re-beam etc. Not the end of the world, but a little annoying.

General Discussion / workaround sport
I find it difficult to understand why the missing features in the program are being put right at such a slow pace. After 10 or may be 20 years there are still basic features that are not native or not available altogether. Why not fix them all in a reasonable time and end the workaround sport?
Don't get me wrong, I am glad workarounds exist, I'd be in trouble without them... But they often are so laborious... For example, just omitting the "3" from tuplets can result in doubling the time of work on a piece. And what about features that cannot be workaround-ed? Of course, there is the wishing list...
The way I see it NWC is like car that runs well but doesn't have turning lights for example. Of course you can workaround the problem with a flashlight... The right side could be somewhat troublesome if you are traveling alone, but you could still workaround it with a broomstick...
IMHO this is the reason why in spite of the fact that NWC offers many advantages in comparison to other music programs it's still far less popular amongst professional musicians.
I realize this may sound uncomfortable to some, I only hope it will be aknowledged that my intention is constructive.

General Discussion / pitch tuning
Hi everybody!
I wonder if there is a workaround for changing the A-440 based default pitch of the program.
This could be useful when using the program as a playback minus one. Orchestras over here (Israel) are usually tuned on A-442 for example.

General Discussion / font differentiation
Hi everyone,
is it possible to create  a multiple staff partition in which one of the staff will appear in smaller fonts and the reest in bigger fonts? For example a accompanying piano part that includes the part of a melodic instrument in smaller fonts.
Thanks in advance
